Module Vocabulary Story Growing up, I was a doleful and chivalrous child who was scared of facing the world. My parents and friends considered me innocuous and my friends often teased me a lot. This ended when I demonstrated my courage by saving my brother from our burning home. It was a Saturday afternoon while I was playing on the lawn as usual. My mother had gone grocery shopping and my little brother was sleeping in the house. I noticed a cloud of smoke billowing from the rooftop (Wilder 45). I was ambivalent on whether to go into the house and save my brother or call for help. However, my vacillation ended in a second. I dashed the house to save my brother. The smoke was so much and I got chocked however I did not capitulate. I was that I would inhale noxious gases so I ran even faster. I found my baby brother sleeping peacefully in his cot as his toys that hung above the bed oscillated.
I picked him hastily and ran down the stairs only to find a crowd of people who commiserated me. The neighbor tried to put out the fire and the fire fighters arrived on time to save the day. Everyone including my querulous and supercilious aunt congratulated me for my heroic act. I walked innocuously towards the paramedics who tested us and said that we were healthy although my brother needed to be kept under observation as he was slightly cadaverous (Wilder 47). To recapitulate, this was the day I earned respect from my family and neighbors and stopped castigating me for my quiet nature. From that day everyone treats me chivalrously. The local headlines read ‘Little by becomes Superman’ and this levity put a smile on my face

Teaching vocabulary

...Teaching Vocabulary Number Department Part Question A I observed that one of the problems may be linguistic barrier, especially if learners of the vocabulary or language being taught are not native speakers. Non-native language speakers may confuse words or forget newly acquired too easily or too fast. Another problem which I learnt accosts adult learners from acquiring knowledge of vocabulary is their atrophied language acquisition device [LAD]. Compared to children, adults experience greater difficulties in learning a foreign or another language. This is because, the LAD as a device which inheres man and helps him learn language, atrophies with age. The acquisition of language also...

Teaching Vocabulary

...Introduction "The role that vocabulary knowledge plays in second and foreign language acquisition has long been neglected. However, vocabulary is currently receiving increased emphasis in the language teaching curriculum. This is due to several reasons, such as the influence of comprehension-based approaches to language development, the research efforts of applied linguists, and the exciting possibilities opened-up by the development of computer-based language corpora. Moreover, it is now increasingly pointed out that there is a reciprocal, well-documented relationship between vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension. As Tozcu and Coady point out, learning vocabulary is an important aspect of L2/FL acquisition and academic... ...

Childhood and Adult Story Writing the adults. Plot development can be said to be perfect by the adults as they have proper sense of where they are heading the story to. Similarly another major difference in the writings is that the vocabulary used by children is different than that of the adults. The vocabulary sense of children is smaller as compared to that of adults. The correct usage of words during the plot flows it towards the right direction, whereas the wrong usage of vocabulary would change the whole plot to a different direction. Adults use the correct form of vocabulary as compared that of children. Similarly the characters governed by children are usually not according to...

For example, before introducing a new concept I usually read them a story on the same or perform a skit bringing out the same concept. This way I am able to build a desire in them to know more about the new concept. After they have learnt the meaning of the concept or been able to understand what the concept is all about, I give them activities to help them activities to deepen their knowledge on the concept or the word.
