Even such a state is not a dilemma of sort; it is the natural result of how men accept themselves to be arranged in society (Baccolini 103). If life or the sum of human experience can be reducible to a situation or circumstances, there are none that cannot be reversed. In the ideal sense, all possibilities can result from sheer self-exertion and one man’s utopia could as well be another’s dystopia (Schermer 122). A general agreement should sustained, that utopian conditions and dystopia can only be elaborated in material terms of qualified concreteness.

Utopias endemically coexist with its very dystopia because of the law of opposites. The whole essay shall therefore venture to appreciate that natural coexistence of each postulated utopian condition and their very negative connotations. In contemporary understanding therefore, utopia has come to represent the ideological and often impractical scheme of political or social reform; often in practice exhibited as the seizing of opportunity to exercise revolutions, to redistribute the wealth of the rich to the poor, or mere fallacious phantasm with grandeur.

The place of literature is the discourse of utopianism is therefore diverse and is traceable to the works of Plato’s The Republic, published about 370 BC, Sir Thomas More’s Utopia published in 1516. Despite widespread disapproval, real-life societies, conceived in the utopian paradigms exist around the world. And possibly, many more sophisticated attempts might be seen in the future as a result of the advancements of technology and scientific knowledge. The punch line is that there is so much romanticism in utopian thought whether literary or on concrete plane of approach.
