Chapter 11 is the longest chapter of the book and is entitled Pearland. It gives accounts of the fighting in Falluja. The chapter is considered a vignette owing to the amount of time the author dedicates to the explanation and illustration of the war. The war in the scene is vital because it helps in developing the attitude and mind of the author. The chapter covers events in 2004 and addresses the challenge of terrorism and the impact of the war on the society and individuals. It is written in an autobiography fashion and addresses the issue of war from a personal stand point.
