In addition, there is a reduction of nutrient recycling and inefficient management of water in the fields. Another constraint of rice-wheat cropping is water management. The reduction of run-off, percolation, and seepage of water has also been elusive, since saving the water does not save the water necessarily (Kumar, 2008: p157). There is an urgent need to solve these issues. Reflection When I gave my work to my partner for a review, I was not sure what the response would be, especially as I felt that my partners work was better than mine was.

I expected that the only things that would be reviewed were small issues like verb confusions and wrong application of tenses. The reason for this was that I had the idea that a review would be like the edits that the lecturer usually does on my work. In my opinion at the time, fixing of lower order concerns is the sole reason for interventions at the sentence level (Falchikov & Blythman, 2012: p121). Following the first reflection that I carried out, I came to the realization that my poor confidence in my skills as a writer may have resulted from my experiences in primary school where I was taught English by an immigrant teacher who did not speak English as a first language.

On reception of the review from my partner, therefore, I already expected that the review would be somewhat critical of lower order concerns as stated above. While this was true to some extent, I was surprised at how little my partner talked about lower order concerns in the review. It seems that I had sold myself short, and I felt better about my writing skills. My partner provided feedback that was helpful, and it was good to note that I had properly communicated with my intended audience, as well as the fact that the purpose for writing the paper was clear to another writer.

The end of his first paragraph did give me some concerns as he stated that there were several issues he was concerned with. However, it was soon clear that they were more technical and did not involve any serious issues. The suggestion by my partner that I had overused acronyms was true and well taken; although, at the time, I felt that I had already used the full terms for the acronyms. I ensured that, in my new paragraph, I did not overuse the acronyms. The acronyms were meant to fit my work within the set word limit but, this time; it was possible to do so without using acronyms, as it was more of a brief summary.

Another concern from my partner that I took into consideration was the issue with not providing a background of the issue. Again, I feel that this may have been constrained by the word limit required fro my work. I made a concerted attempt to give a very brief background about the rice-wheat cropping system within the set word limit. I believe that I gave a workable and insightful background. Looking at the two suggestions already discussed, I felt that, while they had not detracted from what I wanted to convey, they could have been confusing to some of my audience.

It also aided me in coming to the realization that all people who write, have possess a unique style of writing and that there is no set way about how to write. It is all about conveying the message to the audience. My partner also suggested that I use additional facts and statistics, which I had been unable to do
