One of these issues is the planning and arrangement of thoughts. According to VanderMey et al (2012), this involves selecting a topic to write about, determining and analyzing audience, determining focus and purpose of the writing activity, generation of ideas and organizing thoughts. This issue requires the person doing the writing to apply a lot of creativity and to be very cautious and analytical. If this issue is not handled well, we can end up having a piece of writing that does not fulfill our purpose or even one that is incoherent and irrelevant. Hence, the students or any other person involved in some writing activity should take this issue seriously irrespective of their field or specialization. Another additional issue to consider in any form of a writing activity is the readability of the written work. Some students write their work in a way that someone else cannot read and understand what they have written. Since the writing activity is, a form of communication one should make sure that the work he has written can be read and understood easily by his target audience. This is not only to do with the handwriting but also the sentence structuring and the use of jargons. Some people use very long sentences that are difficult to read while other use very short ones which fail to convey the intended message. Moreover, some use words which are very difficult to understand even when read by experts in those areas. Another issue that should be considered for a writing activity to enhance its effectiveness is the proper use of word in their right context and ensuring that they are well spent. The use of word in wrong context shows a high rate of ignorance on the use of English language. Moreover, misspelling can also indicate that the person doing the writing has low levels of English and thus they should be avoided. Furthermore, these issues can hinder the understanding of the written work when read by another person in the absence of the person who wrote it. Hence, these issues should be avoided as much as possible. The technology has improved and now using various word processing software and grammar checkers can detect any kind of misspelling and use of words in wrong context. Moreover, there is the issue of choosing the kind of layout to use in a writing activity. Any kind of layout chosen should promote readability of the completely written work and should meet the standards intended. There are various layouts for different kind of writing activities, which can be adapted depending on the type of writing, its intention, and the target audience. Moreover, there are certain layouts that are standard for certain kinds of writing activities. In most cases, it is advisable that the standard writing layouts should be the one used in all the cases where the layout is not specified. Task 10 Five Traditional Games That Could Be Adapted For a Classroom One of the games that could be adapted for a classroom activity is the When I Go to California. This game involves creating of a sentence which should look like this: “when I go to California I will bring my pet, etc.” The student who is next to you is required to repeat the same thing and then add his own item. The sentence he might create might look like this: “when I go to California I will bring my pet and my sunglasses.” The chain should continue like that until we reach the last person if the students are in a sequence or after going round several times if the students are in a circle. The words in this game can vary depending on the curriculum and the main objective of the game. This game can be used to strengthen memory, enhance creativity and, teaches memorizing tricks and some grammatical concepts. It also strengthens pronunciation skills among students. The good thing about this game is that it can be adjusted to suite the level of the students and the objectives of a lesson. Another game that can be adapted in class is the Smart Heart. The entire class while standing in their desks undertakes this game. In the game the teacher discusses the heart, its functions, where it is located its size, what strengthens and weakens it. He then goes on mentioning the habits that strengthen the heart and those which weaken the heart. For a habit that strengthens the heart the students are required to stand up and jump while for activities that weakens the heart the students are required to sit down. This game energizes the mind and teaches students on listening skills. Like our previous game, this one too can be adjusted to suit the curriculum but it is very difficult to adjust it to suite the level of the students. Another game that can be adapted in class to make learning more lively is the Animals Move. The entire class standing in their desks can undertake this. In the game, the teacher should explain the movements made by several animals like a bird flies, a fish swims, a grasshopper hops etc. he then requires his students to make the movement an animal makes when a right combination is mentioned. He can start by speaking out the combinations while all the students play the other part and then call out students one by one to take up that task. This game encourages creativity and promotes the listening abilities. Moreover, it teaches the students to be attentive in class. Moreover, a game called As If can be adapted in class to cheer up students and hence their learning. Students while standing at their desk can undertake this game. In this game, the teacher can start by reading out some sentences and then the students are required to act according to those sentences for 20-30 min. Later the students are required to create sentences with instructions for other students to react on. This game can be used to enhance listening ability and the ability to construct sentences to give instruction. It can also be used to teach some grammatical concepts. This game like the other games has the advantage of flexibility since it can be adjusted to suite both the curriculum and the level of the students.
