Download file to see previous pages Engineering technology can be described as being practice-oriented, stressing applications of engineering practice, laboratory experience competencies and engineering design. Looking at these two descriptions, one can note that a potential student will be confused by the overlap in these definitions. Therefore, students end up enrolling in one engineering program only to realize that they wanted to pursue the other. This paper seeks to compare engineering and engineering technology. Comparison First, let us examine the program guide characteristics. Engineering involves innovators while engineering technology involves doers or implementers. An innovator is an individual who is capable of interweaving knowledge of advanced math, natural and engineering sciences, and engineering principles and practices in solving an existing problem or to create a new product or system. On the other hand, a doer or implementer is an individual who applies the basic knowledge of mathematics, natural and engineering sciences, current engineering practices and an understanding of economic principles in solving a design problem, operating and testing of engineering and manufacturing systems. Therefore, engineering technology is basically the implementation part of engineering. This means a person who pursues engineering technolog ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...?Engineering Technology and Sustainability 511607) Technological Developments in History It was said by Plato that Necessity is the mother of all inventions. As man evolved his requirements grew and this lead to the advancement of technology at different stages of history. Some of the early inventions were due to a matter of having very limited options. Man in the Stone Age had learned to master the art of making tools using sharp edged rocks. Source: www.harbornet.com This further led him to the accidental discovery of fire which was used in cooking raw food and also in keeping warm to survive the extreme climate. It can be said that technological improvements are due to two reasons; one is the requirement or the necessity... . This then...

... power; however, the creation of the same drastically altered the geography of the land including significant changes and alterations to the biodiversity of the neighbouring areas. The Kariba Lake was located in the tropics and was one of the first projects to be built in the region. It was created by damming of the Zambezi River which flowed between the two countries i.e. Zambia and Zimbabwe in the year 1959. The building of this lake was referred to as an audacious engineering feat since it was created by clearing up a large proportion of the lands leading to displacement of thousands of locals (Gray, 2000:69). Major problems encountered The construction of the Kariba dam brought about significant changes in the area, especially... ...

...Science-Engineering - Robotic Technology I would like to inform you about the progress of my endeavors. It is evident that my Science-Engineering-Technology project has helped me to comprehend the essential engineering concepts. I am focusing on the utilization of robotic technology in schools. By doing this project, I have enhanced my comprehension of the utilization of such processes in schools. The objective of my project was to prove that the technology has been helpful in the current education system (Rueckert & Joaquin 29). To get effective results for my project, I gathered facts gathered by teachers...

...How to Improve the Status of an Engineer in Society By Devangini Chauhan Engineering is the application of scientific and technical knowledge to solve human problems where Engineers use their imagination, judgment and reasoning to apply science, technology, mathematics, and practical experience. The design, production, and operation of useful objects or processes are the final outcomes of this process. Apart from being a subject that ranges from large collaborations to small individual projects, almost all engineering projects are beholden to some sort of financing agency: a company, a set of investors, or a government. This finds outcome in the fact...

In these days, container designs for medications are a result of two disciplines: graphics and engineering, combined together to create better solutions for medication efficacy while these are kept. Innovations include contours with bump outs for easy patient grip when opening these containers, or removable rings for colour code prescriptions (Hafferty, 2010). Or, added ease with pliable ergonomic stoppers apart from utilisation considerations to protect product quality during shipment and in storage. ...relative to automobile development. Germany became the source of automobile technology back in the 1870s when the first four-stroke internal combustion engine was created by Nicolaus Otto (Cross & Szostak, 2004). What followed were progressive improvements to this engine and automobiles in general. The process finally ushered in the electric ignition that saw the emergence of a revolutionized transport sector. Automobiles for private and public use emerged, allowing people to move from one place to another with ease. Automobile development changed the social face of the world. What essentially began as a simple invention in Germany quickly spread all over the world, changing the manner...

.... The solutions for device scaling involve development of conventional MOSFETs on substrate of silicon-on-insulator. The insulator creation involves oxygen ion implantation and layer annealing for oxide formation. Ultrathin SOI MOSFET is involved in the efficient reduction of SCE (Short Channel Effect) and leakage paths elimination thus good for device scaling. Faster movement of carriers enhances the performance of device and can be done through strain engineering and orientation effects. Finally, there is the target of production of sub-10-nm gate-length MOSFETs of 5 A oxide thickness and junction length under 10nm by 2016 (Ieong et al 2004). Pan, D. Z., Yang, J.
