It is evident that the key purpose of the schooling system has been under major deviation. Basically, issues that focus on private purposes of the schooling system like social mobility have been fostered at the expense of the main role of the key educational purpose. The key purpose of the public education system is to foster improved performance academically and to encourage social development which will allow a smooth transition of the student into responsible citizenship and even leaders of the cooperate world.

Internal issues of our schooling systems have been improved over the past decades. The only concern at this point in time is to ensure that the focus of the system is not derailed especially with the “tied funds” idea. The focus needs to remain on the need to achieve the required results and hence ensure that the students emerging from the Australian schools are globally competitive. The current system adjustment should thus consider these imperative recommendations in order to redirect the focus of education back to its fundamental purpose (Cranston, Kimber, Mulford, Reid, & Keating, 2010).

School leaders are evidently facing a number of challenges related to school administration and following the bureaucratic provisions of funds needed to establish new programs for schools. The tied grant is my central point of concern, the rationale for my statement is based on a number of reasons. Firstly, the school administration should be left free to run its own affairs based on the current needs and not what the providers of the funds want. It is inefficient to dictate what the school should do instead of allowing them to spend funds based on what they need most.

In my opinion, it is the duty of school leaders to decide what is necessary for the school. The government contribution in terms of funding for policies that they create has been an important stepping stone towards the achievement of performance-based results that focus on “numbers that count”. School leaders carry a heavy burn on their shoulders, this ranges from the decision-making process in their school to balancing with the need to follow the government provisions and consequently the state agenda.
