Abstract The paper discusses the services that the online internet activities provide. The documents include the discussion of the activities of the internet online services and the benefits it offers to the society. The paper describes the ways to utilize the services to increase production. The benefits and disadvantages that a person may face in are inclusive to this paper. The paper also discusses the customer perception and ideas about the online services. Interviews and surveys are used to conduct this research. 2. Introduction 2.1 History of the online services For far too long, people are bound to note down the balance, credit and debit on a book. The people are buying and selling goods from the very old time but they were not aware of the online services activity. With the advancement in technology and the knowledge that is travelled to the people for online business, they are becoming smarter and easier way of doing business. People are doing business through online buying and selling without the problem of cash on hand and damage of fragile products. The services are creating the lives of the people easier and helpful. The online services commercial went online on 1979. CompuServe was the first company that builds this function to serve the people who were the owner of a personal computer. Other online services than came out for serving the people who owned a personal computer at that time. There were a niche market at that time but still the companies started their work and gained high profits. 2.2 What is online service? Clear and easy definitions of online services that a nonprofessional individual can be able to understand are as follows: “Controlled by or connected to a computer.” (Oxford Dictionary) “By means of the Internet or other computer network” (Oxford dictionary) These definitions help an individual understand the clear meaning of the online services. The phone or a tablet anywhere can today control online services as long as there is accessibility to internet connection. The technology advancement has helped the people to get help from mediums other than computer and laptops. The people can connect internet to their device and get all the services online. The online services help people to make the activities happen for the benefit of the people are less time and more security. People can use Smartphone and other devices such as tablets to access the online services as long as there is accessibility to internet. The technological trend is assisting people to access help from different mediums other than personal computers and laptops. The technological advancement is enabling individuals to use their tablets and Smartphone in business and other useful activities in the society (Pride et al. 2010). People could now purchase goods and service through phones, transact business, and further more even hold video conference through phones and tablets. The people can connect internet to their device and get all the services online. The online services help people to make the activities happen for the benefit of the people are less time and more security. 2.2.1 Types of online services The 21st century is holding many different types of online series. The details of the online services types are as follows: Communication: examples are email, social networking, blogging etc. For a long time, people have been using email to communicate with people online. Things have changed today. People can make phone calls from their personal computers or even be able to see the person they are talking to, for example Skype and other forms of video calls. The emergence of social sites has contributed to the growth of business in the society. Companies are able to conduct their business through these social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Real time information: includes news services, weather report, train or traffic reports Real time information services help an individual or a business company to market his or her services online. The emergence of Smartphone is making this possible by enabling customers and clients access information anywhere, as long as there are able to have internet connection. Despite the economic challenge, the technological changes are making business easier. With the ever-increasing technologies and software upgrade, businesses are getting more opportunities to increase their sales and expand. Commerce: comprise of trading, shipping, auction, banking Today many business companies have the ability to conduct their transaction through online. Majority of the business that are operating online have the capability to offer their services and goods through a process called E-commerce. Online services have allowed business companies to establish a market place presence, or have the ability to enhance an existing market position. The online services are able to provide cheaper and more efficient supply chain of their products and services. When an individual is purchasing goods and services, he or she is participating on E-commerce hence contributing to the technological improvement. The technological improvements have enabled people to be active on the online business activities for 24 hours every day. The trends in technology allow people who use technology on their advantage to access more products. The online business is conducted using the different software application such as Electronic Data Interchange (IDE), E-mail, File Transfer Protocol, and web services (Pride et al. 2010). The online business has key advantages to business people such as the rate of access is fast, accessibility and the ability of the business men to conduct business on international level. The technology has further increased the security when conducting these activities. For the purpose of security, privacy and effectiveness of online business, companies, and individuals should be able to authenticate business transactions, control access to resources, for instance WebPages for the registered business users, encrypt communications and security technology such as Secure Sockets Layer. Business networking is the most effective marketing tool that has the ability to facilitate the achievement of business objectives and goals. The concept of networking is the ability to make connection and create mutually beneficial relationship. There are many benefits of networking that come with technology trends. Some of these benefits are increase in business activities in economic environment, increase in business opportunities such as joint ventures, partnerships and client leads (Pride et al. 2010). Another technological benefit is that networking provides an individual with great source of connections. The business networking provides an individual with positive influence to conduct business. Entertainment: include games, sports, music, movies etc. The online social entertainment has the ability to blend the entertainment industry with interactive contents including video streaming, games, music, and social networking. There are many advantages of storing data and information online, especially for business activities. One advantage is the ability of a business to access information from anywhere. In case there is occurrence of natural disaster such as earthquake or other disaster such as fire, the business information and data are safe.
