Ten Years from Now Table of contents Assignment 3 References 5 Bibliography 5 Assignment Presently I am working with a Non-Government Organisation (NGO). The prime motto of this organisation is to provide proper medical care facilities for the children and mothers in developing countries. These developing nations were struggling with poor health care facilities when I started my career in the medical sector. I always had the dream to render my services for betterment of humanity and this organisation gave me the platform to convert my dream into reality.

At present, I am the head of the medical department which often visit different developing countries and set medical camps over there. During such trips we carryout free checkup and free treatment to both mothers and their children. Also, we organise training classes for the women who are going to be mother soon. This helps them to take proper care of their child and of themselves. Initial I find that it is a bit difficult to interact with these women whose culture, life style and language is so much different from that of me.

It gets difficult to make them understand what I mean. But now the situations have changed a lot. I still remember those days when I had just joined this NGO. At that time it was a small organisation with only 50 people engaged with it. Conditions were quite difficult for the organisation. It was facing crisis both in terms of human capital as well as financial capital. But the practice which was in exercise was the will power of all those people who were engaged with the NGO. We all had a single motto to render modern medical services to under developed countries.

Conditions were quite pathetic in the interior part of these countries. Along with health care, unemployment and illiteracy were the other major problems which these poor people were fighting. So our organisation decided that along with medical services, they will try to irradiate illiteracy and unemployment from these areas. At present our organisation has several working units in different part of the world that provide medical assistance in developing nations. We also run free schools for children were mid day meal is provided for free of cost.

This helps the children to have healthy and hygienic food and reduces the cases of malnutrition. For women and working men night schools are available so that they can attain higher education and can grab better careers. In the developing countries, growth rate of population is much higher than the rate at which medical health centers are developing (Welch, n.d., “Cultural Diversity: Issues in Education and Practice”).As I am the head of the medical department, thus I have to often make visits to different regions.

This has helped me a lot to gather knowledge regarding different cultural sectors. This experience has contributed towards attaining cultural competence for me. This bring understanding regarding toward cross cultural situation. I can now co-relate myself with problem which these people are facing (NASW, 2001, p. 30). With my professional experience in this organisation, I understood that “Acculturation” is how much important for a professional individual who have to often meet and communicate with the people belonging to different cultural background.
