Entrepreneurship and Managing a Business - Example

The paper "Entrepreneurship and Managing a Business" is an outstanding example of a business report. This section of the journal covers the first week which can I consider to be an introduction to the rest of the course. The videos that define entrepreneurs gave me the first key message about the content of the subject. Before taking the course, I had assumed that entrepreneurs were mostly born and not made. In other words, I believed that a person was either meant to be an entrepreneur or not supposed to be an entrepreneur. Apart from defining entrepreneurs as change agents that had big ideas, the right mindset, attitude, creativity, relationships, and organizational skills, the videos highlighted the fact that entrepreneurship can be learned. The implication is that with sufficient dedication, anyone can be a successful entrepreneur. This realization has changed the way I will approach the rest of the course as I will learn as much as possible to find the entrepreneur in me and position myself for entrepreneurial success.

The Government publication on the role of universities in boosting entrepreneurship reinforces the assertion that entrepreneurship can be taught. I was surprised to find that while Australia is a world leader in the area of research and generating new knowledge, it ranks poorly in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship (Australian Government 2015). Given that entrepreneurs play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of a nation, the inability to translate knowledge into entrepreneurship, businesses, and jobs threaten the future of the country. I feel that this point should be emphasized in all learning institutions. Students like myself should be asked to dedicate as much effort to acquiring knowledge as they devote themselves to finding ways to apply the knowledge in entrepreneurial ventures that create jobs and enhance living standards. Having understood this point, I view the course to be essential in adding value to the other courses that I will take in my current studies.
