Name : xxxxxx Tutor : xxxxxxx Title : Community Computer Training Program Institution : xxxxxxx @2010 PART A: Funding Request for Community Computer Training Program 1. Introduction Following an earnest request from high school students in the region concerning the above well advised program, I hereby forward the request to you for your kind consideration. I have personally gone through the proposal in detail and can confidently infer that it is a worthy course and a brilliant idea whose time has come. It is imperative to note that the students highly regard our firm. They are equally expectant on us for its success and their certain choice on COMPLINK speaks volumes on their trust in our pivotal role in computer applications to the society. In a nutshell the entire project costs $ 4000 to cater for transport, advertisement, teaching material, meals among other needs. Being a regional manager of the firm offering excellent services to our clients across the board, I strongly underscore the need to fund this benevolent project based on the following key points. 2. A). Benefits of the project I. To the youth and the senior citizens Bearing in mind that the idea is a brainchild of the students who are out to particularly demonstrate the computer skills learnt at school, the initiative offers them the best opportunity to bring forth such skills and appreciate what they have been taught. The youthful students are thus motivated to pursue careers related to this field having understood its broad based application to the society. The senior citizens too have a timely opportunity to interact with this technological advancement from their young ones at no cost. Again the senior citizens will come to the light of ICT developments in the most sectors of economy thus being at per with the post modern era. II. Spread to other cities In line with our firms vision of being a leading light in advancing computer applications such an idea definitely resonates well in our field and gives us the impetus to fully embrace it and influence others to follow suit. We have so far pioneered several sectors in our field and that has made our firm the preferred choice for development in the computer sector. We therefore have all reasons to support such a brilliant idea. Again the project goes a long is enhancing service provision via computer hence boost the growth of other sectors of the economy. III. Expand business. Our expansionist policy requires that we consider all options that are viable and tenable for application in the growth and expansion of the enterprise. It has been wisely stated that curiosity is the mother of invention and a gold mine lies in the thirst for computer knowledge. This positively translates into more computer supply to sufficiently cater the larger scope of computer users following this initiative. We thus have an obligation to support this cause expecting a quantifiable return in the long run. 2. b). Need For Funding From COMPLINK I. Relevance To Our Business Going by the name of our firm COMPLINK, an acronym for computer linkages, the students have a justifiable understanding of our key objective in this business. The mantle is squarely placed on us to be the means of enhancing computer applications to our clients. Their initiative thus augurs well with our mission and indeed we appreciate that they have thus entrusted the responsibility to the most appropriate firm. Again analyzing the long term gains, the returns of the project to our firm are a worthwhile investment. II. Valuable Innovation Opportunity A key point worth noting is such a valuable innovation opportunity at stake. Having been in the frontline in terms of creativity and spearheading advocacy for innovation in this field, it would be ironical that we let such an opportunity go down the drain when we have a chance to salvage it and be beneficiaries of the function of this worthy course. The ball is in our court and surely we can not let this opportunity slip through our fingers. III. Reputation Of Our Firm It is not mere hearsay to speak of the high accolades associated with COMPLINK in this nation through years of hard work and excellent dedicated service offered to our clients. It is such image and reputation that has propelled our business to greater heights and admirable scales in our nation. Time tasted wisdom has it that it takes ages to build reputation and less than a minute to crash it. Rejecting this request has suicidal implications to our business in the region, a risk too dear to attempt. We can not afford to betray such overwhelming trust bestowed upon us in the idea of short term savings. Our consideration thus maintains our stature for posterity in our ventures in this region. As a matter of fact, the whole matter awaits our verdict which will either make or break this project in the short time left before its implementation. The choice is ours. 3). Summary and Recommendations Having gone through the benefits and choice of our firm for this course, it is my sincere recommendation that it be adequately funded to realize its promising agenda. The following recommendations should also be considered: a) After funding, a monitoring and evaluation team should be set up by the firm to carry out analysis of the project. b) The firm should be fully involved all the undertakings of the project and assist the students in all logistical issues. c) A deal for partnership in further engagements and supply of computers as a result should be signed with the firm. Report compiled by:…………………………… Regional Manager-COMPLINK PART B: JUSTIFICATION Presenting this case as it is stems from the main purpose of the initiative which is indeed quite promising. Looking at the main agenda forwarded by the high school students it, leaves no doubt that the initiative in well intended to the community. The idea has a genuine motive to educate the community at the very opportune time where transition to computer era is in its top notch. It is with such a coming purpose that I do write to seek funding for this wonderful project. Further, the objectives of firm are geared towards making computer services available across the board, to the young and old a like. A community training program on computer and internet use thus resonates well with our core purpose. Having this well founded basis gives me the confidence to write the report for funding. The intentions of this project are clear and rightly motivated. Pursuant to Locker and Kaczmarek’s principles, the report has been written in a manner that clearly addresses the purpose of the initiative and the need for funding (Kaczmarek 2006) By seeking audience from COMPLINK concerning this project, the students must be having some basic understanding of our core values in this business (Dombeck 2003). It is in the same breath that I write to you not oblivious of the fact that community development is a core aspiration of COMPLINK. Again as the company’s chief executive, the community holds the position in high esteem and that the decisions made at this level positively impact the society. The report has thus been written in such a manner to clearly address the issue to the company’s chief executive officer since the success of the project is squarely dependant on the direction of his decision. The passion with which the report has been written is meant to ignite the interest of the company from which the students have sought audience for funding. Having fully comprehended the student’s proposal and need for funding the reports information has been sequentially detailed to give the true position of the program. For instance, looking at the report, the student’s main agenda is teaching computer and internet use to the old people in the region. Further, the breakdown indicates transport, advertising meals and other costs which amount to $ 4000. This amount thus defines the firm’s entry point in the success of the initiative. Again citing from the report, the information given indicates that the students have had a difficult time securing funds for such a worthy project and they have been left with COMPLINK firm as their only hope for its success given the short time at hand. Such compelling information clearly points out the centrality of our position in bringing this idea to fruition. The report has thus been written with emphasis and close attention to the important details needed to furnish the main office with the necessary information concerning the project. The information thus brings forth a strong case for consideration by the chief executive (Kaczmarek 2006) It is worth noting not a single person in his sound state of mind can insist on and forward on idea that has absolutely no benefit, more so if the person in question is a regional manager of a business firm with a national stature. Looking at the report, the resounding benefits of the project clearly stand out. As stated in the report, the positives of this project to the youth and senior citizens of the region are immense. The project further stands to benefit the firm on the long run (Locker & Kaczmarek 2008). This is informed from the view that once computer and internet literacy has been fully realized in the region, the demand for the computer equipment will definitely sky rocket and place us in the very opportune position to gain. The report seeks to lay emphasis on this point. In addition it can be gathered from the report that the project stands a great chance of spreading to other parts of this nation. This prospect serves to further increase the expected returns. As articulated in the report, the project stands to benefit the community, the students and the firm in the long term. It can only be wishful thinking to imagine that such an enormous program is devoid of shortcomings. In as much as the report tends to mask such pitfalls by laying emphasis on the positives, it still comes out that funding this project is a major challenge. As indicated in the report, the students have had a difficult time securing funds for the project. The situation is so precarious that COMPLINK is the final resort for the success of this event, notwithstanding the fact that all the monetary allocations for our regional operations this year have already been consumed in other sectors. In full knowledge of this fact therefore, a few hurdles have to be overcome to come to the realization of this noble plan. To mitigate this objection the report seeks to compare an extra cost incurred here vis-à-vis risking the reputation of this COMPLINK. Given that the firm’s reputation is given premier precedence, the report goes ahead to recommend agreeable funding for this project despite the challenges posed to it (Locker 2003). Logistical hitches that may mar the implementation of this project have been adequately dealt with on recommendation of full expert involvement of the firm to iron out any difficulties that may arise thereof. A very critical issue that the report strongly addresses is contextualizing the entire idea. The students seek to establish a relationship with the firm which will link it to the community for mutual benefit. This can clearly be seen in the relevance of the program to the business. The success of this program will have a great bearing on the firm’s future relationship with the students and the community as a whole. From the report, it can be deduced that the circumstances under which the application is made are so special that they can not be denied attention. The timing of the project is equally crucial to the community and the firm by extension. Students are undoubtedly upbeat about it and have the morale to achieve the goal. It can thus be concluded that the request for funding has been appropriately placed in its context as outlined by the report. (Kaczmarek 2006) In conclusion, I honestly believe that funding this project is adequately justifiable by the contents of the report.
