Jaguar Land Rover Organisational Awareness Historical background of the company Jaguar was founded in 1922 but by the time it was being formed it used to be called the Swallow Sidecar Company. Initially, the company used to manufacture motorcycle sidecars before it developed to start manufacturing passenger cars. The company was branded as Jaguar Company after the Second World War. The name was changed particularly to avoid its unfavourable meanings of the SS initials. In 1966, the company merged with British Motor Corporation and the resulting name of the merge was British Motor Holdings. A second merger came in 1968 where the company merged with Leyland Motor Corporation and its new name was British Leyland (Salama, 2012, p. 8). About the company Jaguar Land Rover has greatly transformed the business under the ownership of Tata Motors Limited. It has transformed the business in order to achieve the full potential of classy brands and realize profitable results. What really drives this business is a world-class working team comprising of about 26,000 workers all over the world. In addition, the business supports more than 190, 000 jobs in the UK through dealer network, supply chain and a wider economy (Denton, 2012, p. 18). All cars produced by this company are designed and engineered in the UK. Even though the business has plans of expanding its operations globally, the business’ heart remains in the United Kingdom. The business has invested billions of pounds in research, development facilities and its state of art production. In fact, in the manufacturing sector, Jaguar Land Rover has made the highest investment in R&D. It therefore means that it is ahead of Roll-Royce and British Aerospace. With this kind of investment, accompanied by the on-going efforts to encourage local communities to seek jobs related to engineering; the business has received numerous awards as the most responsible business of the year. Jaguar Land Rover takes much pride in such recognitions and particularly in the awards. Therefore, in choosing careers related services offered by Jaguar Rand rover, one needs to be well-vast with the field of engineering to have a successful career. International operations Jaguar Land Rover has greatly benefited from its international expansion. This company has a global network of dealers as well as Land Rover Experience centres. A wide range of Land Rover vehicles can access a ready market through these centres. The company is determined to produce a wide range of products that will satisfy the needs of its customers. It therefore means that workers who have an interest of working for this company need to be innovative enough to match the needs of the company of producing quality products. Apart from the Pune plant in India, Jaguar Land Rover has several manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, Turkey and Pakistan. In addition, it has the testing as well as development centres in Minnesota in the United States, Dubai and a place called Nurburgring in Germany (Denton, Automobile Electrical and Electronic Systems, 2013, p. 62). Various external factors are likely to affect the operations of this company. These external factors will mainly comprise of political, economic, social, and technological factors. As an economical factor, the company has formed various global partnerships. An example of the partnership is a joint venture with a Chinese company called Cherry Automobile. The venture has greatly helped the company in its efforts to manufacture vehicles for consumers in China. For the technological factor, the company has signed a letter of intent to help in creating an automotive partnership with a company in Saudi Arabia. With the help of National Industrial Clusters Development Program (NICDP) in Saudi Arabia, the company has started a thorough feasibility study to understand if setting up this feasibility facility will be of any importance (Dento, 2013, p. 32). Careers at Jaguar Land Rover With its continuous evolving history and exciting future, Jaguar Land Rover has a chance to drive people’s pursuit for success. Three qualities; trusted, innovative and pioneering summarise Jaguar Land Rover. These qualities have been captured in the luxury, excellence and performance of its products. They are what each and every worker of the company lives up to their expectations. As a profession who has an interest in working at Jaguar Land Rover Company, I would wish to apply for a manufacturing engineering position. With skills acquired in the course I studied, I an confident of excising a high degree of professionalism which is a core requisite at this company. Still, I can work under minimum supervision and produce quality work that will help the company realize its goals (Jaguar 2014). Culture and values From a personal point of view, Jaguar and Land Rover are determined to produce iconic brands in the market. Each brand has distinct hallmarks that are the cause for their admiration and desire all over the world. The two companies combined, form an incredible business which can grow with a single unique organizational approach. This approach is referred to as the Jaguar Land Rover Way. The approach is a summary of how the two companies do business at all times (Jaguar 2014) Values The mentioned approach is based on a number of core values. These values are helpful in creating and manufacturing premium vehicles in the most sustainable way. The values involve the companies working together with understanding and integrity. They also involve working and striving to achieve the best results in everything they do. The mission The company strives to deliver more great products to customers. These products need to be delivered to customers faster than they have been delivered before. At the same time, the company wants to lead in the field of environmental innovation. In addition, the company wants to ensure that its customers come first. The three missions are the ones the company has a great passion for. Together, they form the company’s mission (Jaguar 2014). Current car models The company recently released world-class cars to match the rising demands for customers for luxurious cars. One of the world-class cars produced by the company includes the Jaguar F-type. This car offers a 0-6mph time of 3.9 seconds. It has a speech which electronically limited to 185mph. The company released this model when it announced its partnership with British World Land Speed Record Team. Another model that was released recently is the Jaguar XE.
