Its strongest selling point will be the provision of high-quality coffee and other food products in a comfortable and warm environment at affordable prices. The Café will be located along 1051 Vine Street in what is Healdsburg’s largest shopping center where it will operated on a 2,300 square foot space. Setting up the bistro will require an initial capital expenditure of $200,000 of which the owners will contribute $100,000 while the rest of the capital will be sourced from commercial loans obtained through Bank of America. The expected sales revenue are expected to be at just over $500,000 in FY2014 while the net profit will be at $150,000 FY2014. The establishment of JumpStart Café Bistro will have a number of positive effects on the community and local economy chief of which will be the creation of serveral new job opportunities. The restaurant will also prefer to primarily use local supplier for the supply of food products, furniture and other coffee shop accessories. This is expected to have the effect of improving the local economy. JumpStart Café Bistro will endeavor to provide the location population and tourists with a comfortable and friendly atmosphere where they will not only be able to receive greatly quality coffee but also a number of other food items, services and entertainment all at very reasonable prices. The JumpStart Café Bistro menu variety will be designed to include different varieties of both coffee and tea. Also on offer will be soda, juice, and other non-alcoholic beverages. JumpStart Café Bistro’s interior design will attempt to focus on the projection of a relaxed atmosphere. This design will see the Bistro’s interior being divided into a number of areas which will include a spacious lounge area filled with antique stuffed chair and couches, coffee tables, bookshelves filled with books and magazines, braided rugs, tiffany style lamps and well as end tables. This section of the Bistro will provide an environment that will provide a warm meeting place for town residents and visitors. For those looking to grab a quick bite while on the go, JumpStart Café Bistro will be designed to have a long serving counter with raised stools. This will provide a comfortable place from which patrons can quickly have their coffee while listening to the music and entertainment being played over the PA system. JumpStart Café Bistro’s success will be based on the provision of high-quality coffee and food items and the provision of a very comfortable warm environment all at very competitive prices. By using this strategy, it is hoped that the Bistro will be able to quickly and easily capture a large share of the local market and successfully compete with the most established coffeehouses in the town. 4.0 Financial Plan Summary JumpStart Café Bistro will be located along 1051 Vine Street and will be located in what is Healdsburg’s largest shopping center. The bistro will operate on a 2,300 square foot space within this prime location (Loopnet.com, 2014). This unique location is expected to help JumpStart Café Bistro in quickly capturing a large percentage of the town population and visitor who will choose the Bistro as relaxing place to unwind after the hustle and bustle of shopping. The Bistro will secure this prime location preferably through a three-year lease contract that will also have the option of extending the lease period. The total estimated startup fund for setting up the Bistro has been tentatively placed at about $200,000. Nearly half of this amount will be sourced through commercial loans that will be obtained through Bank of America, while the rest will be sourced from the private saving of the Bistro’s owners. Banking on the steady stream of shoppers and large number of tourists to the town JumpStart Café Bistro is expected to make minimum initial annual sales revenues amounting to just over $500,000 in FY2014. However, this amount is expected to increase to about $800,000 within a time period of about three years. The operations of the Bistro will be geared towards helping it successfully maintain a profit margin of about 65% as well as reasonable operating expenses. Some of these skilled and non-skilled job that will be created include: 6.1 General Manager This position will required a candidate who has had a minimum of 10 years experience working in restaurants. It is also statutory that at least five of those years were actively spent working in some type of supervisory position. The General Manager will be charged with the rather general responsible of running the daily operations of the restaurant and reporting directly to the owners. In addition to this, the general manager will also be tasked with the management of the staff members, working together with the owner to effectively maintain the inventory, order supplies, schedule the staff as well as handle any emerging customer complaints (Miller 153). 6.2 Shift Supervisor The JumpStart Café Bistro supervisor should have at least five years working experience in the restaurant industry with at least three of those years having been in the position of a server. The ideal candidate should have an age of at least 21 years. The job will entail oversight of the servers, hostress and bus person on their shift. In addition to these duties, the shift supervisor will also work in the capacity of a server. In addition to waiting on the customers, the shift supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring that the customer and serving areas are sanitary and clean. 6.3 Cook The JumpStart Café Bistro cook should have a minimum of 5 years experience with three of those having been served as a cook and not assistant cook. The job will primarily entail preparing the food that is served in the restaurant, ensuring that the supplies are kept at appropriate stock levels and that the kitchen is maintained at appropriate sanitary conditions and working order. 6.4 Assistant Cooks The assistant cook will be tasked with the role of helping the cook in his duties. In addition to this, the assistant cook will also help with the dishwashing duties. 6.5 Servers The JumpStart Café Bistro servers must have outgoing and friendly personalities in addition to having good hygiene. The servers will be responsible for waiting on tables, taking and serving orders as well as acting as cashiers for their customers. At the end of the shift, they will also be required to successfully complete any side work that they might be assigned (Miller 158). 6.6 Hostess The Hostess must have a minimum of at least 18 years in addition to an outgoing and friendly personality. The role will entail greeting and seating customers as they enter the restaurant, taking reservations and answering the phone in addition to assisting the servers wherever necessary. 6.7 Bus Person The position will require that the individual be at least 16 years of age and have excellent personal hygiene. The individual will be responsible for clearing dirty dishes off the tables and cleaning the tables in preparation for future customers. The provision of affordable and quality foods and drinks as well as a comfortable and relaxing meeting place will provide the community with a new social gathering location where members of the community can get to meet and catch-up with each other. The provision of free wireless internet at the Bistro will provide an ideal and comfortable alternative working place for members of the community who wish to work while drinking coffee in comfortable surroundings. The standard of living of the community will be improved due to the availability of the highest quality foods and drinks at very cheap prices. JumpStart Café Bistro will design training programs that will train its staff members on new technical management and leadership skills. The training programs will also equip these staff members with the much needed knowledge on how they can be able to best handle any difficult situations that might arise in the course of their work. The wages paid to the staff member will be reviewed periodically based on the job performance of individual employees. A general annual salary review will also be conducted at the end of each financial year to further review salaries to ensure that they remain commensurate with the changing economic situation in the country and boost morale (Clark 106). At JumpStart Café Bistro, a staff members partial scholarship program will be developed.
