WEEK 3 Manager is the central figure in a business as well as in an organization, which controls and regulates the activities of the staff members, employees and workers. Hence, the manager is simultaneously rendering his valuable services to his organization in all fields including from recruitment to human resources management, and from finance to accounts and operational areas. “A manager is each white-collar, who in view of his position or knowledge is responsible for work contribution, which physically influence organization achievement’s capability.

(Drucker, 2005: quoted in Cieślińska, 2007: 2) However, manager himself is the employee of the organization and is responsible to the owners or the members of board of directors for his conduct and performance for the organization. It is therefore, managers also require buck up and encouragements from the administration in order to perform his duties and obligations in a proper and an adequate manner. Contemporary era has witnessed great transformations in business environment all over the globe, which has affected the work of the executives, managers and workers.

Not only this the companies are applying outsourcing and offshore strategies within their organizational structure, but also downsizing and other schemes observed by the companies have put the future of the managers at stake. Consequently, only those managers would survive in this age of perfect competition, who have capacity to dedicate themselves for the cause of the firms and companies. In the same way, the technological advancements of contemporary era has wide opened new horizons of opportunities for the experienced, talented, proficient and hardworking managers, and the companies serve as hunters to hire the services of the brilliant personnel for the uplift and growth of their organizations.

At this precarious era of socio-cultural change, the responsibilities of the managers have exceeded to a great extent, and the managers require admiration and encouragement in order to keep themselves actively affiliated with their work place. The researcher has developed a survey in order to assess and estimate the magnitude of the managers’ commitment and loyalty for their work places. There are few things that boost up the morale of the manager and urge him show extraordinary performance to face the challenges and meet the targets determined by the ownership for him and his staff members.

The following points serve as the vital issues that make the manager effective and motivate him to render his valuable services, and have been included in the survey, which are as following: 1. Passion: Passion serves as the first and foremost personality trait of a manager, which makes him effective and motivated regarding his work and responsibilities. The researches vehemently support the very notion that only a passionate and ambitious manager can prove himself result-oriented and target-achieving personnel. 2. High aims and ambitions: It is an old saying that ‘hitch your wagon to the star’, which simply means that the establishment of high aims and is a must for the managers to take the organization to the heights of glory.

On the contrary, if targets are easy and superficial ones, the company will remain lagging far behind than the competitors. 3. Vision and intellect: A leader is always visionary and has quality to visualize the future with the help of his intellect and wisdom. Hence, vision and intellect prove beneficial and supportive for making the managers effective and impressive. 4. High confidence level: The confidence level of an effective manager never shatters even when he or his company is under cloud.

He knows how to make passage within the most untoward situation. 5. Strong determination to touch the height of glory: Taking bold and courageous steps and decisions with unabated determination is also one of the essential characteristics of a successful and dynamic manager, which has been elaborated in the survey. 6. Commitment and Organized style of work: Commitment to his work and paying due heed to his duties and obligations turns a personnel into an effective managers. No financial or physical hurdle decreases the scale of the commitment of an effective manager.

In addition, he also sets his goals and moves in an organized way to achieve them. 7. Appropriate salary package: In order to draw results from an effective manager, it is necessary to offer him reasonable remuneration against his services, so that he can remain effective and loyal to his organization. 8. Promotion and increase in salary on the basis of performance: Regular promotions and increase in salary package is also a technique to draw out appropriate results from the managers. Hence, promotion and salary revise also make the managers effective. 9. Team of efficient subordinates and co-workers: A single individual is not able to display his talent and proficiency in the organizations.

On the contrary, he requires team of co-operative staff members for the successful implementation of his stratagem. 10. Opportunity of working independently without any undue pressure: Trust in managers and providing of independent working environment is another essential for making him dynamic and effective. 11. Incentives, rewards and appreciation time and again: Renowned theorist Abraham Maslow regards motivation the most powerful tool for enhancing the work performance of the workers, employees and managers at large.

Thus, bestowing of incentives and rewards upon the managers make them highly effective ones. 12. Job surety and security within the organization: The contemporary era has created the atmosphere of job insecurity all over the world, and professionals appear to be uncertain regarding their job security. Consequently, they do not pay due heed to their work, and remain busy in applying against different jobs to make them financially secure. If the organisations ensure the managers regarding their job security, it will certainly turn them more effective and diligent.
