Corporate response carnival cruise ship disaster al Affiliation What the company should have done The question at hand is the timing of communication. The company did the right thing to delay the announcement since this could have led to public speculation, questioning, vehement social media attacks against the company, panic, fear, and finally lose of company image. If the company decided to communicate earlier, it meant that the company was not in control and it was seeking American residents’ sympathy on the same. As well, the ship was registered at Panama, meaning that the country could have ignored checks. Panama is an independent country, where cruise ships had a different act as compared to those of the US. The crew decided to communicate earlier; there could have been speculations on the possible sabotage of Panama against United States. Social media campaign would have twisted the scene to appear as though it was a political issue. Rowdy youths would take the issue into their hands, forcing American politicians and the wider police enforcement to act in response. As a result, there could have been diplomatic problems between United States and Panama, as well as, street violence similar to the Rodney King Riot 1992. Likewise, the panic and fear caused to innocent civilians, who by strong logistical measures were not in a position to communicate with the relatives back in the ship would have been bothering towards the recovery of the shape. Considering that some of these relatives have fragile emotions, panic would result to more catastrophes, for instance, insanity or even death. Moreover, intense political activities would have questioned Carnival ability to respond to disaster. Theories on ship disaster management would have crucified the company wrongly. In the 62 hours of recovery and restoration, the company could have lost a significant among of business, clients and losing a legend image to other competitors. This could have resulted to failure of the multinational, disinvestments and possibly permanent locked out of business. By bring back the ship to the port; it indicated that United States government, Carnival Cruise and the state of Panama were always responsible to what happened to citizens and other customers. Who are the key stakeholders? There are a number of stakeholders involved in the case. The very most important stakeholders are the customer aboard the ship since these are the bosses of the company. Their relatives, friends and society as well follow closely. Other key individuals are the company crew, those who operate the vessel including their captain. The coast guards, the multinational’s employees, the business executives, the United States government and the Government of Panama. Due to the complicated business that Carnival Cruise is involved in, one will note that the company is chief partners are parents. Koome and Theuri (2015, p. 91) argues that the nature of risk and changed during the organizational life cycle varies in importance over time. Unlike other types of stakeholders, one will note that customers remain to be primary customers predominately. . The report justifies customers as the most important stakeholders since they form part of needs that the organization should be engaged in. For that reason, one the concept of strategic fit will apply to customers. In any case, the competitive case ensures that there are dynamics outside the environments which relate to the reaction capacity. As well, there are new practices it is only through treating the customers that new practices and new opportunities are generated. Behind customers, employees follow closely. Employees are considered also to be a primary segment of the stakeholders. Menassa and Baer (2014, p. 207) believes that employees can be considered as important stakeholders given their influence on critical decisions. As well, engaging stakeholder motivation appears to be the process of value building to the corporate constituents of who in return provide the organization with faster access to better and cheaper resources than it competitors. In summary, if an organization fails to acknowledge the importance of each stakeholders, it might not be able to the engage a needed motivation strategy. The organization will therefore fail to react adversely which constrain the access to cheaper/ and or better resources to withdrawing the power to operate. Communications Strategy Convincingly, the channels of communication in this case depend on the choice to gauge reaction on the media. With time, people have developed a general belief that some media provide information and others do not. For that reason, identifying this reaction is an integral process which can be assessed by the organization key inputs. The communication strategy incorporates the nature of best practices which ensures that the employees are expected to convey the information without causing uproar in the community. Reflectively, evaluating the appropriateness of the channels of communication requires the development of characteristics for the organization. In this case, the cruise ship company will reporting to the public of what had happened to the crew on board. For that reason, the company auditors should be aware that public has lawyers who are willing to the right appropriate action suing the company for negligence. In order to engage the right communication, one will ask whether communication requires knowledge sharing. In this case, face-to-face channels that is more effective. Given that the organization will be communicating to the public, it is eligible to have primary and secondary conversation that stimulates information exchange in unique (Martin, 2014). The media emphasize the sources of the message more than the message which visual forms of communication places emphasis on who is speaking. For that reason, the company needs to place the chief boss as the main communicator of the audience. The company will release a detailed press statement indicating the nature of the accident and how it contained it. However, the most important part is how equipped the ship was as well as, the support given by strategic partners, that is the military. It will be important to brief the chief boss on this given that the needs of the company lie on the choices that he makes. The message should be reinstating the company’s ability to respond to such humanitarian crises. As well, the message should provide sorry information directed to friends and relatives of all family members in the accident. In such a case, it will be possible to answers to public who will be the chief audience. References Koome, E., & Theuri, F. (2015).
