Through the analysis of different companies, the book also covers cutting-edge strategic social media activities including customer relationships improvements, sales’ improvement, and team building amongst others. Holloman is a renowned author of technology trend features for Sky News online and a central speaker with audiences in businesses, students, and c-level managers. Towards examining effective use of social media in various companies, this book is divided into three sections. Each section covers in detail, the companies that have utilized social media and emerged successful in the current business world.

The three sections are Set Up, Social Media Strategy, and Social By Department. The companies examined include ADP Allianz, Cisco, Confused.com, Dell, Honda, Nokia, Sony Mobile, and Xerox among others. The use of social media for business set up covers companies whose organizational structure incorporates social media as an acceptable part in its day-to-day running. For instance, Nationwide Building Society uses a social media strategy that aggressively encourages customer feedback. As a result, the company created room to top management to buy enough shares and control the business while promoting customer satisfaction, and elevating customer involvement (Holloman, 2013).

Additionally, social media for business set-up involves social media centre of excellence like is the case in Cisco and Honda. Cisco uses social media to facilitate the sharing of best practices by its employees and practitioners through cross segment coordination. As a result, the company promotes involvement with the brand online through the empowerment of customers, employees, partners, shareholders, and the public (Holloman, 2013). The second category in the book is the use social media strategy in businesses with the two main examples being Nokia and LivingSocial.
