In addition to this, I have secured more than 90% in the Doha independent secondary school. Thus, this highlights a small reflection of my academics and what I have achieved in my studies so far. Yours sincerely Your signature Your name TASK 2 Question 1: Describe a situation when you had to lead a team? What was the outcome and how did you know your leadership had been successful? Leading a team is an exciting experience and I always enjoy when I am leading a team. During my academic career, I was assigned the role of a team leader a couple of times. I was supposed to lead the team and get the project completed from the team members. When for the first time, I was assigned the role of a team leader; I was confused on how to start and how to communicate with all the team members. I was nervous regarding how to speak with everyone else in the team. However I was able to overcome this issue extremely quickly and then I divided the overall project into small tasks. There were 3 more members in the group, and I assigned each group member a specific task and this strategy helped in completing the project with high quality. During this project, I realized that I have the leadership skills, and I can lead a team. Also, it helped me in improving my communication skills as well as improving my confidence. At the end of the project, our team was able to complete the project assigned to us and this project was a exciting learning experience for me as well as for my team. During this project, I realized that I have the leadership skills, and I can lead a team. Question 2 Describe how your personal planning and organisation resulted in the successful achievement of a task. Planning is an important aspect of every work. I believe that if I plan things before actually doing the work, then it helps me in accomplishing the task in a better way. For this reason, I tend to plan out how to do the task and then organize things and then I start the action. Planning is therefore critical in successfully achieving the objectives of any particular task. Whenever I am assigned any task, I tend to identify and plan of how to go about the task. Planning is considered as one of the most important aspects of management. Management comprises of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Therefore, the role of planning is extremely influential in managing any task. I believe if any task is planned well then it helps in completing almost half of the job as the person knows how much time and effort will be required to complete any particular task. Thus, the role of planning is significant in successfully accomplishing any task. Organizing is the second most notable aspect of management. Organizing well helps the person in knowing and systematizing how things need to be achieved and what things or resources will be required to accomplish the task. Therefore, whenever I am assigned any task, I first of all plan on how to go about the task and then I organize things and start work. Question 3 What challenges would a UK business face if it was looking to move its operations to a foreign country? There are a number of challenges that a business face when it expands or moves its operations to a foreign country. It is critical for the business managers to identify and formulate strategies to manage these issues and challenges. If these challenges are not managed, then it could result in the failure of the business. If a UK business would move its operations to another country, then some of the considerable challenges it would face are as follows: Cultural issues Cultural issues could influence the success to the foreign country. Culture is defined as the norms and values that people practice in the country. For instance, if the official language of the foreign country is other than English, then it could be a challenge for the UK business to move its operations. Socio-cultural factors Socio-cultural factors could also become a challenge for the business when an organization moves its operations to another country. For instance, when Starbucks expanded its operations to China, then socio-cultural factors influenced the company to change its strategy as Chinese people loves tea. Thus, Starbucks had to modify its strategy considering the socio-cultural factors. Religious differences If people of the foreign country practice another religion then it could be another challenge for the business. For instance, if the business moves to UAE then the official religion of the country is Islam, and this could influence how the business operate in the foreign country. Question 4 Provide an example of when you overcame a problem. Given the chance, what would you do differently? During my education at the University of Leeds, I was working in a team for a project. We were assigned a project and the project was supposed to be completed in 4 weeks time. Therefore, our team members thought that we have sufficient time to complete the project and thus, this approach resulted in delaying the project. The team leader took the project casually. Such an approach also demoralized me, and I was not interested in work on the project with the team. As time passed by, we realized that the deadline is remarkably close and once there was an occasion when I thought that our group would not be able to complete the task within the deadline. However, at the end of the day, we were able to complete the task as we worked hard in the last five days or so and we somehow were able to complete the project and submit it to the instructor. If I was given the chance again, then I would not have taken the project casually. I would have assigned different roles and tasks of the whole project to the team members initially, and I would have called meetings on a regular interval to know about the progress of the project. This would have helped me as well as my team to come up with a better outcome ultimately. Question 5 Demonstrate how you vary your communication approach according to the audience you are approaching. It is important for the speaker to modify the communication approach according to the audience as it helps the speaker to get the audience more engaged and it could also help in sending a message in a better way. I also manage my communication approach according to the audience in order to make communicate more effective. For instance, when I am leading a team of my friends and then my communication approach or style would be more casual and friendly. However when I am presenting something to the audience such as to the class then my presentation or communication approach would be more professional than communicating with my friends. Also in the presentation to the class, I would be including different topics that we have studied together so that they can relate the presentation with what has been taught in the class. Similarly, if the audience includes professional people then my communication style or approach needs to be highly professional and I need to use different professional examples to communicate the message more effectively and to make the communication more interactive for them. Thus, it is important for the speaker to modify the communication approach in order to make the communication more effective. If the speaker does not consider the audience then it may not result in making the message effective and also at times, it may not result in properly communicating the message to the audience. Task 3 Question 1 a) Which graduate attribute have you developed the most during the course of this module? This module has been an exceptional learning experience. I have been able to develop different attribute throughout the module. However the most salient attribute that I have been able to develop is the willingness to learn. Throughout the module, I have found that I am highly motivated to learn about new things and new concepts. b) Explain how you have developed that attribute during the module. Throughout the module, I have learnt a lot of things and attributes and this has been the hallmark of my module. If I analyzed my performance and what I have gained from this module, then I can count on a number of things, and I believe I can summarized it as this module has played a decisive role in improving my willingness to learn. This willingness is not only related to the academics, but how I communicate, how I learn, how I analyze things, how I manage problems, how I work in team, how I lead and so on. Now I believe I will continue this willingness to learn new things as this will help me in my professional career as well. From this module, I have realized that it is crucial for an individual to keep on learning new things and enhance the current skills as this allows an individual to develop a better personality that could give the competitive edge in finding jobs. Question 2 a) Which graduate attribute do you consider requires more development? There are a few areas of improvements that I have in my personality. Although, I have been trying hard to overcome these areas, but I believe there is still a long way to go. One of the most prestigious areas that require more development is the networking. I consider that I have a limited social circle, and because of this reason, I may suffer in the long run particularly when my professional career starts. b) Explain why your chosen attribute requires more development. One of my weak areas is the lack of social network. I know, and I have experienced that people that have strong networks are able to use them in their business and these networks are immensely helpful in professional life. However I lack in this regard as I have only a few friends in my social network. I am someone who is shy in communicating with new people and this restricts me to expand my social circle. Even I use social networking websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and twitter however I have a extremely limited friends and family members listed in my friends list. In addition to this, most of these people added in my friends list may not be helpful in my professional career. Therefore, I believe I need to become more confident and start communicating and making new friends as this can be critical in the success of my professional career. c) What is your action plan to develop that attribute? It is important to prepare an action plan to achieve this objective of expanding my social circle. A strong social circle can be helpful in finding jobs, getting some issues solved or tasks completed, or even getting professional help. Therefore, it is necessary to have a social circle that can be helpful in the professional career. I need to make sure that I do not expand my social circle too much as this could result in chaos as I may not be able to interact with all my social circle and this may weaken our relationship. I have prepared an action plan regarding expanding my social circle. One of the objectives of my action plan is to increase the number of friends that I have in my social networking website list. I also plan to participate in different events in the university as this will help me to interact with more colleagues in the university and these people can be helpful for my future. In addition to this, I plan to consult my senior students not only from this department of law but from other departments as well. This would be helpful in knowing and learning about the professional environment as well as this will help me in improving my knowledge. It is important for me to not only restrict my social circle to the academic level or to the university colleagues and therefore, I need to get involved in different events taking place in different parts of the city. I need to participate by volunteering in different events, and this would help me in meeting with different professionals. Therefore, this strategy can be critical in adding more professionals in my friends list. Also, I have planned to join different professional organizations that are related to law practices and corporate and legal advices. This will be helpful in not only expanding my knowledge regarding laws and legal practices at the corporate environment. Read More
