Comments Comment in response to http artery.wbur.org 06/26/mfa-returns-antiquities-nigeria Although it is surprisingly pleasant to learn that such relics are being returned to the country where they belong, it is interesting to note that Nigeria is undergoing political turmoil which has culminated into civil unrest. Items of cultural importance play a significant role when historians seek to find the hidden pages of the history of a nation. Finding a few is really tip of the iceberg, but we should hope to get access to the remaining works of art in the coming times.

Additionally, restitution of ‘Head of A Man’ , I consider an omen that promises better conditions for art works in the coming times. Australia’s role in this regard is definitely appreciable and I find it surprising to read that “Australia has not done enough”. I believe that the war between ‘preservers of arts’ and ‘spoilers of arts’ is an ongoing process, and once the direction to ‘preservation of art’ is established, Australia will find its way to success in this war.
