Introduction Research has it that a number of factors genetically influence the human brain and sex difference is one major factor. Researchers have done a thorough research on episodic memory where personal experiences of individuals were used and concluded that women tend to have better memory. The findings indicated that women excelled in remembering verbal terms, simple objects, people, pictures and days events hence were better off in symbolic. However, men excelled in the scientific field and outperformed women in maths.

Men were found to be good in matters concerning visuospatial processing. The study environment has a significant impact in the human brain and magnitude of the difference. To date, the researchers hold that the females have better episodic memory. Memory may be as the way information is processed in our brains. The number of steps involved which include encoding, storage, and the way the processed information. The five senses of a person are the ones that help in retrieving of information. Sensory memory works with received stimuli via the senses.

It holds the stimuli for the brain to decide the stream of information that requires to be attended. The Short-term memory stores for a short time information, which may be for minutes or even a day. Long-term memory, however, stores information for long and may be permanent. This is the memory that helps one in remembering things that may be required for a lifetime. From the experiments carried, the data and analyzed information justify that the female outperforms the male individuals as they are in a position to remember more information concerning short-term memory.

However, there are exempted cases where individuals are gifted, therefore, have a special memory that can store more memory than usual cases. Furthermore, there are skills that have been identified that have been proven to help improve human memory (Rogers, 2003). ReferencesAssociation for Psychological Science. (2008, February 21).
