I. Construct an inductive argument for a specific conclusion. April made a perfect attendance in Philosophy and she got a good grade. Marie also attended all the class in Philosophy last semester and she got a good grade. Last year, my best friend Paul also did not miss a class in Philosophy and he got a good grade. It follows therefore that if I will not miss class in Philosophy, then I would earn a good grade. II. Explain what you might do to make this inductive argument stronger, either by revising the premises or by revising the conclusion.

The above example is plausible but not entirely correct because inferring from the argument, it suggests that by merely having a perfect attendance, a student will automatically get a good grade in Philosophy. This is not entirely true because students are not graded on attendance but rather on their scores in exams, recitation, etch. Attendance is just a factor to getting a good grade. To make it stronger, it would be better to substitute “attendance” with “studying well” to make the argument stronger because it is what makes a student earn a good grade and attending class is already part of it.

So the line of argument would be; April studied well in her Philosophy class and she got good grade. Marie also studied well in her Philosophy class and she got good grade last semester. Last year, my best friend Paul also studied well in his Philosophy class and he too got a good grade. It follows therefore that if I will study well in my Philosophy class, then I would earn a good grade.
