Question #1

People categorize work as something difficult and a waste of their time, when in actuality, if you love what you do, then work can be play as well. You work hard and play harder; it is that simple. I find great pleasure working in the healthcare field, caring, advocating, and researching credible resources to make each person or community live a healthy lifestyle. I believe in “let work be your play, and your play be your work.” Therefore, the purpose of work in my life is to make money and serve all the community members in living a healthy lifestyle because this is something worth in their lives. Work also aids in creating a meaningful life because it ensures a healthy relationship and enhances teamwork.

Question #2

Work should not just be about money, for you will most likely be miserable and or lose interest in what you do for a living. Of course, the career I am working hard for has to be one that can support my lifestyle, but most importantly, it has to be something I know I will enjoy doing because it matches my personality. I am a very passionate person who enjoys helping people, and therefore the reason why I chose a career in the health care field to do what I do best. Hence, apart from money being one of the motives for my undertaking in the healthcare workers, I also do it because it brings satisfaction in my life, and it is my entire ambition.

Question #3

I am a hard worker because I love to perfect everything I touch. I am my brand, so I have to make sure everything that I work on is done correctly. I love helping people on a path to better health, so I will go above and beyond to make sure they are satisfied with my service. As I mentioned above, I am a person who always enjoys helping people be the best versions of themselves. For example, ever since I was a little girl, I would always run to my pets and family's rescue whenever they were ill and stay with them until they were well enough to perform their basic daily activities. As an adult, I am the same way with everyone around me, including my two daughters with Sickle Cell Disease. I am always attending health interventions and informational programs to learn new health technology specializing in sickle cell disease or whatever health problems any of my family members may have. I am very curious and adventurous when it comes to nature and biology, and it excites me to obtain the information needed to pass on to someone else to make their lives better. Therefore, I work hard in all the things I undertake.

Question #4

Working in the healthcare sector reflects my character in various ways. Public Health Nurses work in communities to educate, advocate, provide preventative clinical health care services, and support population health. In essence, being a caring person has always been my character because I find happiness in the wellbeing of others and creating a positive impact. Some of the services that public health nurses provide that enhances this are: well-baby care, immunizations, school health visits, and senior home visits. "Public Health Nurses are the largest group providers of public health services," according to nursesource.org/publichealth.html. Public Health Nurses may also work in NY schools as a school nurse supporting students and their families, providing preventative screenings, managing chronic health conditions, and providing urgent care. The minimum requirement for practicing as a public health nurse is an Associate's Degree in Nursing, but for experts, a BSN is needed. Community Health Nurses' salaries range from 45,000 to 73,000, depending on position and facilities. As such, my character is maintaining a positive mindset while working towards achieving financial freedom.

Question #5

Nursing has always been my area of interest, but after learning what public health is all about, my interest in helping people on a path to better health has broadened. My pass internship opportunity as a patient care technician gave me the closest experience to understand how nurses assist patients in better health, along with my 10 years' experience of nursing my daughter who is a sickle cell patient. I am a very compassionate person who has high standards of professionalism, culturally and emotionally competent, work extremely well under high stress and pays keen attention to every detail. Nurses are great health professionals who gets to be a family away from home for patients who needs not only need medicine but also the emotional and mental support to get better. Hence, in my list of priority, work is on the top because I do it out of passion and I work hard in accomplishing the objectives of working in the health sector to promote a healthy nation.

Question #6

As a health worker I have a hand in ensuring the wellbeing of patients through administering medications and other direct help they may need. I have great confidence that as a Public Health Nurse, I will be of great help to the organization who employs me, to carry out the attributes of a nurse to the communities in need. I will also get the pleasure of working with groups of other public health providers, who may be developing intervention programs to target specific cultures or communities needing our help to improve their health. I am also a good time manager, which is essential for all health care personnel. I also like taking into consideration ethical practices that may help strengthen work ethics. I am also an empathic individual, which is an essential trait needed because patients need someone who will empathize with them while they are having a difficulty. Therefore, I will be a valuable employee in a health organization.

In Conclusion, being able to assist someone on a daily basis to prevent, and recoup from conditions that alters their health is wonderful, but to do it for a whole community is amazing and heroic. I also believe that work in itself is thrilling if it truly is your passion. It for sure saddens me to know that a majority of those working truly are unhappy in their workplace. I want to voice my love for my work and be a true advocate for those unhappy in the workplace. I look forward to my future and I am so excited to see what God has in Store for me.
