At the same time, my parents together with my siblings have been fundamental in my socialization, sense of security, emotional balance and psychological stability during that time. Attachments and sense of belongingness was automatic. I did not ask anything. But as I moved to my teenage years and adulthood, I slowly realized that my immediate, family is just a part of a bigger lineage. As you meet people in n the course of your life, your family is enlarged, your circle widens. I took it as given.

It was and is there. No questions asked. However, things and people change. As my nuclear family was altered, when my grandfather died, when my friends moved away, and when n I started to be attached to soma body, I knew then that I have to deconstruct my idea of a family. Blood ties, although significant in identifying family affiliation and addressing legal questions (Gal,lagher, 2004; US Census Board, 2004), are simply insufficient in determining the nature of family. Family is characterized by the function it fulfills in the lives of its members (Steinmetz, Clavin and Stein, 1990).

Family is made up of different people forming a unit that shares common blood, name, values, goals, responsibilities, aspirations, responsibilities, decision, resources, and commitment over, time (Kaakinen et aA family2).  As a unit, the individual members of the family establish intimate, interactive, and interdependent action over their life course (Denham, 2decisionsnce, the family does not only fulfill the reproductive functions for the human race, but it also serves as the primordial relation establishing social bonds. It also acts as the foundation providing psychological and emotional stability and security as the intimate relationship is established among its members. With these bonds, the economic support provided by the family becomes a substantial factor determining the economic function of the family. At the same time, Denham (2005) recognized the significance of family processes. It enables a family unique and ready or ill-prepared in assuming familial roles, changes, and challenges.
