This is the issue, which we shall discuss in the essay. I shall be discussing the 2005 movie The Island and the C L Moore short story No Woman Born to look inside the subject, as they both are based on it. The Island is a sci-fi movie, which shows how people can cheat others for their own benefits. We see a community of people made separated from the rest of the world which is said to have become contaminated. As a matter of reality, these ignorant people are being used for producing clones of theirs.

Now the main characters of this movie are clones and they are on their way to find the ‘sponsor’ – the people from whom they had been created. Questions keep dawning in our mind as we watch the movie. First of all, human cloning is a long controversial topic, which has no answer of justification yet. This is actually a question of identity crisis and laying hands upon very fundamental human rights. It is a basic right for any human being to maintain his or her identity until he or she dies.

Now it definitely questions the originality of identity if someone is already a clone. A clone is never regarded as a human being; it is an inhuman existence. This is the trouble that Lincoln faces in the movie. He even finds Tom Lincoln, his ‘sponsor’, speaking in a different accent, which again put his identity into trouble. The main issue, which the motion picture deals with, is the struggle between a human and an inhuman life. Lincoln is a result of a scientific experiment. Therefore he is not taken as a human being but a product of science.

Artificiality is the thing, which differentiates a human being from an inhuman existence. The movie guides us to envision the trouble that we are bringing upon ourselves, as a science fiction is a reflection of the future days. (Moore) ‘The island’ is a utopian place where the characters of this movie want to go. It is believed
