"High Blood Pressure or Hypertension" is a wonderful example of a paper on the cardiovascular system. Hypertension is a prevalent heart condition problem. It results from high pressure, which forces blood against the artery vessels of the heart. Hypertension develops over a couple of years (primary hypertension) without the victims realizing it and even in some cases without any symptoms; eventually causing health problems like heart disease. However, the disease can be determined by measuring the amount of blood that the heart pumps and the level of resistance of the blood flow in the artery vessels. For instance, the higher the flow of blood from the heart and the narrower the artery vessels the higher the blood pressure hence resulting in hypertension.

There are various factors, which cause hypertension hence increasing the chances of such individuals developing stroke and heart disease. Some of the common factors causing hypertension include obesity, smoking, too much drinking of the drink of alcohol, medication e.g. NSAIDs, little, or lack of exercise, stress, illegal drugs such as cocaine, and ethnic or family background (for secondary hypertension). Some of the symptoms common in people suffering from hypertension include headaches, a few more than normal nosebleeds, dizziness, etc. (MayoClinic, n.d.).

However, it is imperative to note that, some individuals do not show signs even when the level of pressure reaches highly dangerous levels. Hypertension can be prevented and managed through eating a diet with low saturation of salt and fat but with the saturation of complex carbohydrates like legumes, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains; regular practice techniques of relaxation like Tai, yoga, or qigong, and increased physical activities avoiding smoking, excessive alcohol drinking, etc. (MayoClinic, n.d.).

Conclusion

Ultimately, it is evident that Hypertension is a prevalent heart condition problem. It manifests itself in both the primary and secondary forms and can cause heart complications and diseases such as stroke. In addition, the disease can be managed through both alternative and complementary treatments that are believed to be efficient and effective in treating hypertension or high blood pressure.
