"Global Mental Health" is an outstanding example of a paper on disorders. The Pre-1949 republican era was characterized by missionary mental health hospitals. Even so, mental health hospitals were built during the liberation year, 1949. Before this time, the Chinese solely depended on the foreign missionaries for the provision of mental health care. The missionary groups that helped the Chinese populace hailed from the West. The post-liberation period was marked between 1949 and 1965 (In Thornicroft and In Patel, 2014). During this period, Russia asserted its influence in the Chinese mental health care provision.

            The initiative culminated in the building of several health care centers across the country. Additionally, many healthcare schools were built to equip students with mental health skills to help in the delivery of mental health services in the future. However, the medical schools built were multiple skills besides mental health skills. Therefore, there was no emphasis on mental health care. During the cultural period, which occurred between 1966and 1979, many psychiatrist medical centers and schools were closed (Knifton and Quinn, 2013). The patients were instead informed that they could only get well through the indoctrination process.

The early reform era had diverse restructuring in the mental health section. The period of the early reform era was between 1977 and 1989. The late reform era was associated with the building of fully-fledged mental health facilities without seeking any help from Russia. The post-SARS period between 2002 and 2011 experienced the overhaul of the entire mental health system in order to restructure the system and improve service delivery quality. Finally, the first mental health law was passed in China in 2012. Naturally, this marked a new dawn for the psychiatry section of the People's Republic of China and ensured strict adherence to guidelines on mental health.
