Introduction

Total Quality Management is an approach that is based on the management of an organization and majorly focuses on the long-term success of the group through an enhanced and improved customer satisfaction. The management of the organization, therefore, focuses on training its employees and advancing its systems in a way that enables them to serve their customers better. Additionally, the approach looks forward to a means where the employee is also satisfied with the way in which the company at large is serving the customers and the quality of services that they are receiving. In a manufacturing company, the approach has a significant impact on the development of quality products and services that they offer to their clients and customers. However, the implementation and inclusion of such a program require that the management of an organization conducts a self-reflection to realize the objectives, mission, and vision of the company to consider them in the continuous improvement of the quality of goods and services of the company.

The changing leadership to be considered for introducing TQM, building readiness for change, and overcoming resistance to change.

For the implementation of TQM, it is a major responsibility of the leadership to take up their leadership roles and serve as guidelines to the rest of the organization to finally ensure the achievement of their appropriately set goals. The introduction of TQM makes use of the management and the leadership and also the involvement of its workforce, suppliers, and the customers as well because it's an inclusive program that requires to understand and consider the interest of every stakeholder (Verma, 2014). As such, change of leadership is not crucial as the intended group to be involved in the implementation requires being aware of what is expected of them. With the necessary information of what is expected of them, then they can play their party for the success of the organization. Additionally, they are also engaged in introductory training which enlightens them of the expectations that they are supposed to enhance. Such training, offered to the whole group, gets them ready for the intended change and therefore gives the leaders an easy time after that in telling the people how they are supposed to respond and embrace the implementation. Considerably, good leadership and management is a condition of consideration for the success of the processes and programs set for the ultimate achievement of the application of a Total Quality Management approach.

Overcoming resistance to change.

Total Quality Management is majorly signified by change, and it is very vital to the continued success of an organization. The employees themselves are the primary source of resistance in the group, and there need to be ways in which this opposition is dealt with. In this context, the employees need to be educated and fully involved in the implementation of the TQM program which improves the organization (MERDZANOVSKA, 2016). The employees also need to be given extensive information to make them fully understand the ongoing changes regarding the challenges that come with it, the benefits that come with the success of the program. Therefore, there needs to be proper communication and the supply of the necessary materials and resources so that the process does not face any delays and attract resistance from the employees and other stakeholders involved.

The tools recommended to:

Control employee stress that is resulting from the change.

Stress would be a normal situation for the employees before they adapt to the changes. As such, the employees, therefore, need to be introduced to a system of advanced quality through offering them training, embracing a suggestion scheme that would see their needs taken care of and included in the quality improvement program. To avoid or manage the stress by the employees, there would be a need to introduce some excellence teams whereby the teams. As such, the implementation would be divided into phases for the several groups, and then the best team regarding implementing their bit of the program would be awarded. It also serves as a motivation for the employees and therefore manages and controls their stress levels.

Communicate details about the change.

Effective communication is critical to the successes of a Total Quality Management to bring about the intended change. In an organization, communication should flow in all directions up, down even to the external clients to reach every stakeholder involved in the implementation (Perkins, 2010). It should be logical and persuasive, directed to the appropriate audience in the best way that they could understand. As a result, secure communication and the body language when delivering the information necessary in conveying to the different groups and they can be grouped into verbal, non-verbal communication, written, visual communication, and they are all intended in communication strategies.

The process to evaluate how well the change is working.

The process of evaluation is meant to examine the means of program implementation and the response of the people to the implementation of the program. For a practical evaluation, the process may involve providing a framework that is meant to support the strategic planning efforts that have been invested by the management. The assessment also consists in identifying the opportunities or the increased improvement that would be required or can be noticed even with the implementation of the program. In determining how best the program has worked, a baseline or resource use can be set and then the follow-up would be made in line with these resources. It tells of how much has been achieved and also what is yet to be accomplished. Creation of control groups that would act as control process for the primary process is also necessary for determining how much the particular program has managed to achieve regarding the intended achievement.

The organization is Walmart stores. There are problems within the company where there is increased competition, higher expectations from the customers coupled with the low prices that the customers expect them to maintain. The organization intends to improve its services by transforming to a more of e-commerce and technology companies thus serving its customers in a better way. There is also a solution to earn the trust of the customers once again through with other companies that have a better customer base to help improve its own. There could be a repeat of the same kind of information over and over again which derails the progress of the organization.

Leadership requires a change over a particular period. New leadership brings new vigor to an organization (Verma, 2014). New people will, therefore, bring in new ideas and thus help the team in embedding its unique practices. They can consider the Kurt Lewin model which entails the role of leadership and how the employees are involved in making the change happen in the organization. Resistance to change should be taken positively and accept the resistors while offering them training so they understand the undertakings. The team can adapt to the procurement processes, should abide by the terms of contracting process and also make the process very effective and efficient. The project is very educative especially the roles of a change agent whereby there is evidence that facilitation is vital even with the will to implement change. The key takeaways are on how change can be made real and become useful to an organization. The agreement on confidentiality is also fundamental and part of the process. For such an organization, there is need to develop and improve the marketing skill and basis for the employees.
