To resolve a conflict within an organization, it is important to manage the issue, not the people. Different types of issues can occur within an organization such as conflict of interest, role of responsibility, lack of interpersonal relationships, poor communication and co-ordination, and lack of resources. The main goal of this proposal is to inform you about the various conflicts and issues that have dismantled the entire environment of the organization. To know the nature and severity of the conflicts, a simple interview was conducted with the 18 employees of the organization. An in-depth analysis of their answers has helped me to understand the conflicts, nature/ type of the conflicts and the level of dissatisfaction emerging within the employees. This proposal is aimed to highlight all those conflicts that emerging within your organization and to discuss in detail that what workplace initiatives are required to be implemented in order to impact the subsystem conflicts occurring within the organization. Statement of Problem: Analyzing the interviews conducted with 18 different employees working in your organization raised many loopholes in the behavior and attitude of the management towards resolving conflicts. Lack of interest, lack of responsibility and poor communication have been seen as few of the most conflicting issues giving rise to misunderstandings, anxiety and poor relationship building among the employees. Clients have also seen complaining about the organization’s zero interest in their matters. The proposed initiatives are outlined after understanding and analyzing the conflicts and its occurrence on the four main domains within the organization such as how conflict can adversely affect the relationships among employees, decision making process and processes within the organization and types of conflicts in each domain (category) and how organization deals with the conflicts. Without resolving those issues it is impossible for the organization to gain success and to remain competitive in the market. Also, the organization is in dire need to motivate and reward the employees to make them feel as an asset to the organization. Objectives: It is important for an organization to overcome different conflicts occurring within the organization to enhance the efficiency of the employees by bridging the gaps and creating increase communication and interpersonal relationships. It is also essential for the organization to understand and resolve the conflicts in order to attain communication success to overcome any issue that can give rise to future conflicts. Plan of Action: In this section, I would want to highlight the proposed initiatives that would help the organization to achieve the desired success and objectives by resolving the conflicts. Growing conflicts can harm the entire infrastructure of the organization including the environment and culture of the organization. It is the high time for your management to take an initiative in order to resolve the conflicts and to maintain a smooth friendly environment. The analysis of the interview raised different conflicts such as: Lack of communication Centralized control Zero employee participation and no motivation/ reward program Lack of interest and lack of responsibilities Failure of conflict management teams and task forces Distrust Lack of resources The above mentioned conflicts are few of the most highlighted issues as discussed by different employees also mentioning the respective conflicting figure. For example, one of the employees has mentioned the interpersonal conflict between employees that went unresolved and hence, it created a room for future conflicts in the same domain. Majority of the employees have complained about the lack of professional and personal communications among employees which has created gaps among them. Also, the controlled decision making process and not focusing on employee participation in major decision may cause a serious setback to the organization, if the organization fails to address this issue on time. Proposed Initiatives: It is important for the organization to recognize the source of conflict. Discussion with the employees individually or in a group is important to know the opinions of every person. Discuss different ideas and solutions to overcome conflicts. Focus on individual’s participation without interruption. Management should outline a list of all the pros and cons related to each solution. Management should also consider the fears and interest of each employee. Priority should be given to limit the use of authority and control on the voices of employees. Agree to mutually approved decisions and solutions. Solutions should highlight the common interest of the employees. Select the most agreeable decision or the solution that fulfills the needs of the entire organization and the employees. Compromises may occur during this phase. Involve all the employees/ participants to make a decision on mutual consent. Conclusion: It is essential for the management to eliminate conflict from the organization and to build an effective strategy to address all the highlighted issues. It is essential for the organization to set management training programs to overcome the lack of roles and responsibility at the same time, stressing on the need of developing teams to enhance teamwork and to communication among the employees. As a result, the employees will be able to build effective professional and personal relationships which will be helpful for the organization to become more productive and efficient. Read More
