Quality Management Strategies Introduction In a dynamic business environment, the challenge to minimize the cost of production, while fulfilling customers’ expectations is a significant consideration for the production businesses around the world. Managers, for this purpose, are always attempting to attain a certain level of advantage based on the scale and volume of a production. However, this decision usually results in increased number of failed products per production cycle. Thus, resulting in high level of customer dissatisfaction; therefore, company’s customer retention rate drops significantly[Man]. On the other hand, it is also recommended for the management not to get obsessed with attainment of zero error, because this thinking is flawed, based on the presence of human error. Managers, instead of considering ways to shave off the cost, should work for increasing the quality and offer an extra value to the customer. In this way, their product’s image will improve and sales will also boost. In today’s business world main focus is on cost reduction; but, as the consequence of this strategy, quality of the product suffers, due to this reason customer abandons the product, resulting in a decline in the sales. In the light of this statement, organizational management should commit themselves towards upholding the quality standard, which will allow them to charge a premium over quality, rather than struggling to satisfy an annoyed customer. This paper is dedicated to provide a range of quality management strategies for BJB Company. These strategies are briefly described in the coming section of this document. Producer supplier interaction Producer customer interaction Lean production Waste Control Training JIT inventory Employee Participation Leadership Producer supplier interaction It is highly recommended for the organization to maintain close ties with its suppliers. At the same time they both have to share information with each other on the current level of inventory and quality required. So, in this way the probability of stock out and quality lack will be considerably decreased[Koz12]. To keep this interaction stable, an organization has to switch from manual supply chain management to a computerized one, because this method will prompt the contracted supplier in case of low stock on its product. Therefore, it will help in reducing the time and cost of placing an order with a supplier[Koz12]. Producer customer interaction BJB is also advised to maintain close ties with its customers through noticing their preferences and desirable features in company’s product and then designing a better product according to the demand of the customer. This step will increase the perceived value of the product in the mind of the customers, thus will result in enhancement of sales volume. Lean Production Modern organizations do not invest on features which are not required by their target customers, therefore lean production is a way to go for BJB, by deployment of this technique, the company will add and improve on those attributes of the product, which are demanded by the customer. In this fashion, the company will be able to save a substantial cost and will also manage to enhance product’s psychological value in among the customers[Koz12]. On the other end, robust design technique could prove beneficial for BJB, because under this method, those features are added within the product design, which are easily and cheaply arranged, therefore, increasing the utility of a product for the customer. Another facet of lean production is the use of assembly line technology, under which the products are assembled on a rail, with employees adding different parts to them with the help of sophisticated machinery step by step. Waste Control Waste significantly contributes towards raising the costs, so it is imperative for the company to produce according to the demand, so that the production remains at a minimal level and thus reducing the waste as well. Training On the human factor of the organization, they should be trained according to the changing needs of their jobs. Employees should be prepared for a new technological change, before implementing it; in this way, they will be able to handle this new machinery sufficiently well. This development will also result in the betterment of the organizational infrastructure, which will in turn increase the quality standard of the product. JIT inventory This quality control technique is designed to minimize the level of raw material inventory, to reduce the holding cost. Under this method, the inventory comes, when it is needed. In this way, the inventory wastage drops to a minimum level, thus increases the efficiency of the production process to an optimum level. Employee Participation The management cannot do anything effectively without the help of the technical staff, because they are the people who produce a product with skills and techniques. These people play a significant role in turning a production plan into a reality. BJB has to involve these people in decision making process, so that their technical knowledge could be utilized in making up a strategy to improve on product quality. At the same time, BJB should introduce a pay for performance culture and job autonomy, so that people can work in a relaxed and friendly environment. Leadership Leadership is a critical part of any organization’s success, because it provides direction to the whole organizational effort. It inspires the employees to work in a manner that leader supports and work sincerely for the greater good of the company. So, in the light of this statement, top management must remain in touch with the core employees of the company on a personal level. Consequently, they will keep working with their full potential for the betterment of BJB. At the same time managerial staff at BJB is responsible for managing the performance of its employees in a positive sense. The purpose of performance management is to spot the weaknesses of the employee and then assisting them in covering them up through the process of training and development. However, this process is not technical but inspirational in nature. Conclusion This paper intends to provide a range of strategies to enhance the quality of the products manufactured at BJB. The main focus of this study is to improve the perceived value associated with the product line of BJB in the mind of customer. However, to achieve this goal, it is recommended to the management of the company, to add relevant, desired and economical feature in their products. In this way, the customer will be attracted towards company’s offering, due to enhanced features. Along with this advantage, consumer will also be likely to make a repeat purchase. On the other hand, technological advances in production system are also advised to increase the efficiency of the production cycle. At the same instance, technical training and orientation for the staff, is identified as a necessity for the organization to flourish in the marketplace.
