Even if people get to work on time, they do not think, for example, that making it on time for a dinner appointment with friends is that important. Somehow, they think that it is not all that important to be on time when they are off work.

Also, people do not consider the effect their lateness has on others. Often, they think that nobody is bothered by their lateness. However, that is not true. Friends who get to dinner on time have a harder time because they end up waiting for the person who is late. This can cause them a lot of inconvenience and frustration.

I think that because our society does not reward people for being on time, or punish them for being late, in their personal lives, people do not change their behavior.

People should realize that being on time is important in their personal lives as well because being late not only wastes time but causes others to suffer.
