In today’s modern technological systems, the utilization of database is a key component that is highly needed. A database is an organized collection of data. The data are typically organized in relationships known as entities that allow users to manipulate information. It is clear that databases are needed in any organization to edit, modify, and store inventory. Databases allow users to have manipulation of data and created dynamic inventory queries to facilitate the business (White 6). Prior to vendors really getting into databases, Microsoft was the only hottest company that was making software for database. Microsoft Access was a hot software that allowed users to create entity relationship databases and manipulate information. However, a newer company known as Oracle changed the land scheme of things. Oracle allowed users to extract and manipulate queries. Companies such as Quest Technologies came with software such as Toad, that supplement Oracle 11G and made the whole process extremely seamless. However, a new type of database known as Apache and Hadoop have been developed to challenge these databases (“Business Intelligence-BI”). Apache and Hadoop are open source software that have been a prominent `Databases are pivotal in many organizations because it allows respective stakeholders to view and analyze data. Before the advent of databases, information about customers and business were overwhelming. With databases, stakeholders can truly take this raw information and convert into data that can assist them in making real-time decisions. The challenge in many organizations is the fact that majority of decisions are made based on estimated guesses. One of the best elements of Databases is the fact that it reduces any ‘guesswork’. Moreover, it allows the organization to understand customer behavior in a much meaningful way. Another huge aspect of Databases is the collaboration aspect as it allows users to interact and use this data. Imagine an organization in which the marketing department requires key reports from the technology department. Clearly, the issue of latency can be a factor that can delay essential decision making (White 8). One of the key facets of big data is that it has the functionality to convert terabytes of raw information into powerful data. For organizations, that means reduces cycle time and allows managers to effectively monitoring of business operations. Since organizations need to convey a large amount of information quickly, big data is the perfect channel that is compelling and intuitive of tracking analytical data. For that, Oracle seems to be a feasible option. The advent of big data has also allowed the growth of Apache and Hadoop to harness in the e-commerce environment. Apache and Hadoop have been the open source servers that has allowed organizations to seamlessly integrate their big data infrastructure with their business intelligence. Although these are open-source, they are also more perplexing in their processing. Apache and Hadoop are the open-source framework that is utilized in big data. They both come as a package and utilized for a parallel file system. The base is used in framework and composes of modules. In an effort to have a more integrated approach in open-source software, data locality and packages have been a huge functionality. Another basis of the functionality is the fact that uses a distributed file system. Open file distributed system along with Java is essential for today’s e-commerce organization. Each data node serves up blocks of data over the network using a block protocol specific to HDFS. The file system uses TCP/IP sockets for communication as used by many other software. An advantage of using this file system is the ability to track down and monitor nodes of clusters. The beauty of Apache and Hadoop along with the junction of a new concept of planning is the availability of meaningful and informative ‘Dashboard’ for the decision makers. Moreover, executives would be able to analyze data from all over the world from their Web browser—it would give them a dashboard for driving business at a high-level (“Business Intelligence-BI”). Along with current and real time data, it also provides historical data which is essential in building KPI and performance metrics thus helps decision makers to focus on their priority data that is critical for operation. Also this approach allows them to have more robust and informative automated online reporting and meaningful dashboard which allows company’s managers to focus on analyzing data instead of spending time on creating reports. Another huge functionality of Apache and Hadoop is that they operate in no SQL. Traditionally, Microsoft came out with a SQL language that was proprietary and utilized the concepts of RAID storage. However, Microsoft was also utilizes foreign key and primary key. However, Hadoop and Apache have no concept of keys, which makes it an interesting tool to utilize. Hadoop and Apache can be utilized to create dashboards because of big data allow managers to monitor inventory on real-time basis. . Data migration is one of the most crucial elements that is needed (“Business Intelligence-BI”). The term data centric refers to software architecture in which databases play a huge role in defining the infrastructure. Hadoop File Distributed file System(HDFS) is a an amazing feature that allows data nodes to talk to each other. Clusters and nodes work in sync to ensure that data does not duplicated in a wrongful manner. The HDFS file system is available in capabilities and built an active directory that is necessary for tracking files. It uses components that were developed by an old Google file system, a non-surprise element as Google has shaken the grounds for proprietary software (Liebowitz 2). Moreover, Hadoop brings the ability to efficiently process large amounts of data, with its monumental structure. Google has used Map/Reduce to ensure that Apache and Hadoop can work at a higher level. Additionally servers in Hadoop cluster and can fail, which is HDFS is truly remarkable. Hadoop databases do not require data to be stored in schemas and has to be structured whereas Hadoop makes that more of the developer’s job. Hadoop and Apache will revolutionize reporting and databases. Why? Well, it is evident that they are creating a solution in the realm of BI that will allow e-commerce websites to obtain customer information via adhoc basis because of centralized information from all the sources (e.g. point-of-sale (POS) system, equipment monitoring, etc) where all sorts of information, real-time feeds and legacy information, can be monitored and analyzed in most efficient and precise way via data warehousing (Liebowitz 2). This would help organizations have robust information of their business processes and assist them monitoring the progress of their business in the terms of sales, revenues, inventory management, staff allocation, location of the business in terms of which is profitable or unprofitable, and also gives them the head start to mitigate any risk. The main objective of using Apache and Hadoop with other systems is to perform integration among different systems so everything is centralized thus the information. Additionally, integrating Hadoop and Apache approach would also help them to perform product management that is to monitor the quality of product and tools that are used for business, this all can be achieved by Simple Network Management Technology (SNMP) which monitors every essential piece of equipment in each location “with the addition of simple electronic monitoring devices, a network connection, and an SNMP management information base (a piece of software that interprets the data from the device for the monitoring system), that "intelligent device". The beauty of their BI planning is the availability of meaningful and informative ‘Dashboard’ for the decision makers. Moreover, states that executives would be able to analyze data from all over the world from their Web browser—it would give them a dashboard for driving business at a high-level. Along with current and real time data, it also provides historical data which is essential in building KPI and performance metrics thus helps decision makers to focus on their priority data that is critical for operation (Liebowitz 2). Also this approach allows them to have more robust and informative automated online reporting and meaningful dashboard which allows company’s managers to focus on analyzing data instead of spending time on creating reports.
