I agree with the author. In many cases, the US has tried to tarnish the reputation of other countries in order to avoid intense competition from them. For instance, many negative articles have been written concerning the BRICS countries. This is despite the union making immense strides, especially in the economic sector. This is because many think that such an association will threaten the dominance of the US in the global market and political sector. Therefore, the negative perception is mainly intended to reduce the trade between the US and Japan in order to weaken its economy.

Furthermore, the parameters used to measure the success of the Japanese economy are not correct. As a result, a negative image is being painted about this country. I believe that benchmarking is the best measure of a country’s progress. This is because it is able to capture the changes that have occurred in the economic sector over a specified period of time. If such a parameter is used, the current image concerning Japan can change immensely.
