An Essay of Admission for Application in the of _____ On a small trip from my house to the shop my parents own, my father told me that I am going to continue my studies in the United States. As a little girl from a small town in Indonesia, I was largely attracted to that promise so I struggled to achieve the highest marks at school and even studied harder to pass my national high school examination with an exemplary notch. After all the hard work, however, I felt disillusioned to have found that it would only be worth getting into a community college.

Coming from a city where people could barely gain access to the worldwide web, I had little knowledge about university application online, merely making do with the information derived via the newspaper and TV. At the time, I was also worried of not being able to compose a good admission essay due to low level of proficiency in English. So I ended up attending the De Anza College, thinking that I might fall short in meeting the expectations of an academe with high standards. Staying in the community college for a year and a half, nevertheless, proved worthwhile when I gradually unravelled delight in learning and meeting people with different backgrounds and insights, teachers and classmates alike, who bore impact in my studies.

In the process, I had observed significant improvement in my general performance which highly reflects my increasing capacity to speak in English in and out of the class. By acquiring membership in the school’s club, I managed to participate in several activities involving community service and I appreciate the fact that volunteering is indeed a great way to reach out to groups or individuals who are apparently deprived of love and care in most aspects of living. It may not have brought monetary rewards yet I did yield a huge sense of fulfillment, having known that I could be capable of interacting and sharing myself to others with compassion.

Through the proactive conferences with foreigners, I further realized that cultural differences actually lead to healthy relations rather than conflicts since we chiefly find them interesting and rare compared to the ordinary experiences or norms of everyday life. It made me quite joyful that such occasions enabled me to utilize my communications skills and figure as well how else I can express myself more creatively. During this period, our guidance counsellor helped me to evaluate certain goals and expectations with the academic endeavor I desire to pursue in the United States.

Every time I recall the moment my father uttered those wonder-filled words which created a profound impression of security in my thought, I would stop and smile, believing that everything truly happens for a reason. It turns out that De Anza College is a blessing that used to be in disguise for it equipped me with the necessary training prior to my higher scholastic attempts in the future. To this extent, as a sophomore, I feel confident to deal with another wave of challenges and difficulties so much so I am prepared to shift to a four-year institution.

I would thus like to proceed with my studies herein, positive that the school’s competency-based programs can adequately sustain each student with proper education via stimulating faculty staff, rich and up-to-date resources of learning within appropriate facilities, and a conducive atmosphere that promotes interaction and efficient absorption of knowledge. This way, I would be able to concentrate and approach my studies for the major with an enhanced diligence toward deeper understanding of the subject matter and its corresponding set of objectives.

Besides establishing this much faith on the school’s systematic potentials and committed service, I am also anticipating to participate in special events for an opportunity to meet people of various ethnic, social, and political orientations with whom I could explore possibilities of attaining professional growth. Based on these grounds, hence, I am looking forward to obtaining not only academic discernment in a four-year institution but even discovering means to cope with the tough yet fascinating realities of globalization.
