School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics - Division of Engineering and Product Design ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT PROJECT TITLE: Mechanical and Manufacturing Instrumentation and Testing Submitted to: Program Coordinator: BY: Introduction The sampling distribution exhibits much variability than the process distribution. This reflects the averaging that occurs in computing the sample means: high and low values in samples tend to offset each other, resulting in less variability among sample means than among individuals’ values. Note that the sampling distribution is normal distribution, even if the process distribution isn’t normal. The normal distribution can be used to help judge whether a process is performing adequately. If the output reflects only random variability, one would conclude that the process is stable i.e., in control). But if there is evidence of non-random variability, one would conclude that the process is unstable (i.e., out of control). In this case we took five samples; each with three observations, of the length and diameter. The mean of sample and grand mean has been computed. All values are in MM. Use this information to obtain three-sigma (i.e., z=3) control limits for all means of future length and diameter Report Objectives & Questions The objectives of this project paper are to focus on opportunity to improve current practice through collection data analysis and establishing economic modelling in airframes structures assembly. In this study, length and diameter parameters were observed and considered as constant parameters and tool life is predicted based on these. the focus for research objectives will be to set a clear understanding to the project being studied. Data process The main purpose of this report is to determine the mean value, standard deviation and the range length and the diameter jaber. Data collection selections were based on the current non-conformance data. The parameters were obtained from micrometer. The spreadsheet to record the measurement data; calculate the mean value, standard deviation and the range for your measurements has been designed. length Diameter A B C MEAN A B C MEAN 1 27.499 27.517 27.486 27.5007 1 5.068 5.057 5.054 5.0597 2 27.571 27.503 27.501 27.5250 2 5.057 5.055 5.068 5.0600 3 27.519 27.415 27.453 27.4623 3 5.064 5.078 5.067 5.0697 4 27.492 27.484 27.52 27.4987 4 5.062 5.061 5.045 5.0560 5 27.405 27.532 27.496 27.4777 5 5.082 5.058 5.073 5.0710 Average 27.4972 27.4902 27.4912 27.4929 Average 5.06660 5.06180 5.06140 5.06327 s.d 0.0601 0.0456 0.0247 0.0239 s.d 0.00948 0.00931 0.01155 0.00666 Range 0.166 0.117 0.067 0.0628 0.025 0.023 0.028 0.015 Data analyses and discussion: We begin by using Mean control chart, sometimes referred to as an (“x- bar”) charts, and is based on a normal distribution for analysis . It can be constructed in one of two ways. The choice depends on what information is available. Although the value of the standard deviation of a process, ά, is often unknown, if a reasonable estimate is available, one can compute control limits using these as ά = ά ά = standard deviation of distribution of sample means, ά= process standard deviation , n = sample size, z = standard normal deviation and = average of sample means For length At tolerance level of 90%, x-zά/2() Read More
