Personal ment A degree at this stage would provide me with self enhancement opportunities. Having graduated in Biomedical Science from Kings College in London without much interest in the course, I look forward to fulfilling my ambitions at the School of Communication. This school should equip me with the appropriate communication skills to effectively influence people into acting as so desired. The degree would enable me pursue a career in public relationship, with a keen interest in working in non-government organisations, NGOs, after graduation.

This will enhance my experience working with community based organisations to promote coexistence and improve living standards of its people. My grandmother, Du Nam, played a critical role in influencing my accomplishments. From an early age, she actively participated in anti-imperialism undertakings. She actively participated in the war and emerged victorious together with her peers. In fact, by taking up journalism in Hong Kong, she equipped herself with the much needed knowledge to front her agendas.

Such determination is what has inspired me to rally against social inequalities. Specifically, I have been keen to oppose racism in an effort to promote coexistence among people drawn from diverse backgrounds. My zeal and leadership skills acquired from my experience as a school prefect propelled me to becoming a project coordinator in an organisation where I encouraged the Asian community to fight against racism and be actively involved in electoral processes. Working with people from different socio-cultural backgrounds made me appreciate the diversity in our cultural practices.

My passion to see people live better lives made me organise numerous fund raisers in the community as an external secretary of a community union.Even with these achievements, I face challenges like other ordinary people. My greatest difficulty was the fact that I had to live away from my parents from a tender age of five. With no family around, I felt alone and lacked the support and love offered by family to propel me to greater heights of achievement. However, I found solace in community work, always seeking to promote the greater good in the community I lived in.

This enabled me fill in the gap of not being around family. It is mostly through this community work that I appreciated my flexibility. With a little compromise, I have managed to live harmoniously with people from different backgrounds, learning to appreciate their diversity. The leadership positions fostered my critical thinking skills. Analysing situations to come up with most appropriate remedies for challenges has earned me trust among my peers who look up to my leadership. The ability to deduce underlying facts in critical situations made me to successfully organise 300 Chinese students for a musical show.

Therefore, undertaking studies in communication would enhance my interpersonal skills, critical for successful leadership. I seek to promote coexistence in the school and share leadership skills as need be. Having held a number of leadership positions in school and in the community, bringing on board the knowledge gained to the school would impart positively on the school leadership and my peers. My experience with varied faiths would be a source of enlightening other students on the importance of appreciating the diversity in the faiths we proclaim and the passions that we have as humans.
