2nd draft of the 2nd essay Today, most countries are racing to attract tourists through the exploitation of the attractions available in these countries. Some of these attractions are the tropical natural environment full of relaxation and entertainment venues. It can be argued that the city of Miami, one of the most coastal cities in the world and located in the United States, offers most of these attractions. However, Miami’s attractions are matched by the city of Dubai, one of the most coastal cities in the Middle East. There are many similarities between the city of Dubai and the city of Miami with regard to their weather, points of interest and accommodation. One similarity between Dubai and Miami is the weather. Both of these cities have a dry tropical climate. This is characterized by a humid summer and a moderately cold, short winter. The heat and humidity increase between June and August, which makes the weather perfect for swimming and to practice outdoor activities. It is noteworthy that Miami is the second highest rated city on the American continent in terms of humidity. The average temperature during the summer is 90 F, while in the winter it ranges from 60 F to the upper 80s. Although the two cities have a common climate and similar environment in many ways, Miami differs from Dubai on the risk of hurricanes. Two well-known examples of the destruction these kinds of storms can do are Hurricane Andrew, which nearly destroyed Miami, and Hurricane Katrina in more recent years. The temperate weather in Miami and Dubai have made them favorite cities for relaxation, recreation and also retirement. Another similarity between Dubai and Miami is in their points of interest. If you are planning a trip, whether you are a family or couple, don’t worry. Miami and Dubai have each found a way of catering to each. There are dozen of places where you can do activities as a couple or as a family including sight seeing, water sports or enjoying a night life – whether it be clubbing or carnivals. If you are looking for beaches and sea, there is the famous Miami Beach. This is one of the main features of Miami, although you can also go to the regions of South Beach and North Beach to try to find a little less crowd. Also, since dolphins are one of the symbols of Miami, you must see one of the most famous dolphin shows in the world at the Miami Sea aquarium. If you want to pamper yourself with a trip to the sea in the turquoise waters off Miami, you can step up to any yacht for hire at the Miami Beach Marina. During the ocean tour, you'll likely notice Fisher Island. It is a sub-tropical island settled like a vast resort. If you want to combine of land, water and boating, though, go to the alligator farm where you will see hundreds of crocodiles. After the beaches and parks, any visitor to Miami thinks of shopping for souvenirs. There is a shopping district known as District fashions located between Seventh Avenue in the north-west and Avenue Miami. In contrast with Miami, Dubai is also famous for its sandy beaches. Jumeirah Beach is the most beautiful beach area. There is also the recently opened Marina Dubai. Unlike Miami, which is associated with the dolphin, many of the Arab countries are associated with the camel, making them one of the primary tourist attractions. Camel racing, which takes place on Thursdays and Fridays during the winter months, is one of the coolest memories people take with them from a visit to Dubai. Dubai enjoys sunshine throughout the year, which makes it an attractive option for winter’s travelers who search for the sun. If you stand on the east coast of Dubai, you can clearly see KhorFakkan Island. It’s a small island like Miami’s Fisher Island, but it is not a resort. A one day tour inside the island will take you through the inner valleys with a stop at the Badia mosque. This is one of the oldest mosques in the United Arab Emirates. Although Dubai is located in the middle of a desert, this issue did not prevent the city from building the largest aquarium in the Middle East. It consists of three floors and is located inside the biggest mall in Dubai which is called simply the Dubai mall. No less than Miami, maybe more, Dubai's reputation extends as a shopper's paradise. The shopping scene in Dubai provides what every shopper needs. As well as electronics products, watches, cameras and other international items, competitively-priced, there are many popular traditional gifts. Can you imagine a ski center in a city enjoying a tropical climate? Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East, providing an amazing atmosphere to enjoy snow skiing, and slide the panels, or just play with the snow. There is something for all ages, from beginner to expert. The Ski Dubai resort is classified as the third largest resort in the closed snowy world and is located within the Emirates Mall. Just as the two cities look alike in weather and points of interest, Dubai and Miami are also similar in style of visitor accommodation. Certainly you've heard a lot about the luxury and the distinction of the Miami resorts hotels, which indeed they are. If you dream to stay in a resort with a view of the Mid-Atlantic and palm trees, your dream will be achieved through The Inn at Fisher Island Hotel. Also if you want to be close to the downtown financial district, South Beach and the shopping area’s “Fashion district,” choose Hotel Mandarin Oriental which is located on Brickell Key Drive. In contrast, Burj al-arab is one of the most famous hotels in the Middle East, named after its billowing shape. All that is unusual is usual in Dubai. There is also the Atlantis Dubai Hotel, which is called the “Floating hotel" because of its floating rooms. Bedrooms offered under the water level can provide you with the finest and most beautiful landscape sceneries in the depths of the Arabian Gulf. If you are looking for a desert style vacation, you should visit Dubai, but if you are looking for something with a more Latin flavor, go to Miami. To conclude, it’s hard to compare between Miami and Dubai because of the presence of many common factors such as environment, points of interest and accommodation, but a closer look reveals a shift in character from one to the other that allows each city to remain clearly distinct from the other in the minds of their visitors.
