Culturally Responsible Negotiation The following questions have to be answered before beginning negotiations with a business located in the United Arab Emirates:Is the negotiation specific or general?Who are the parties to the negotiation deal? What is the conflict of interest between the parties involved? What are the terms for making the business deal? What are the possible opportunities and barriers to successful negotiations in that nation? What is the expected outcome from the negotiations?Barry, Lewicki, and Saunders (2010) state that individuals negotiate all the time, and the negotiations happen for the same reasons.

Therefore, it is important for a business seeking a negotiation deal to address all the ten ways culture can have influence on negotiations to be successful in the negotiations. For instance, communication (whether direct or indirect) varies among cultures (Salacuse, 2004). In this case, communication has to be flawless for the negotiation to be successful. The most important area apart from the questions mentioned above is the political situation of United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.). U.A.E. lacks political parties and each emirate has its own ruler (Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, 2011).

Thus, each emirate has its own set of rules and regulations, which governs it. In order to be successful, it will be imperative for the business to understand the political situation of U.A.E. The strategy to be used for the negotiations is the integrative negotiation strategy. In this strategy, there are no losers; all the parties involved are winners. The strategy is beneficial because it permits both sides to accomplish their objectives (Barry, Lewicki, and Saunders, 2010). ReferencesBarry, B.
