The public sector organizations are trying to provide effective services or delivery to the society. On the other hand, the private sector organizations are trying to maximize their business profits and profitability. The study is about current workplace diversity in the Canadian public and private sector organizations. This assignment will reveal the fundamentals and benefits of workplace diversity in an organization. Analysis The opportunity to achieve effective potential at workplace for all the employees in an organization is now significantly recognized as one of the fundamental human rights. Over last few decades, it has also become transparent that the Canadian organizations need to pursue workplace diversity as a competitive stipulation. The pursuit of diversity at the work place is one of the major strategic responses of the Canadian organizations towards globalization (Klarsfeld, 2010). Moreover, it helps the organizations to increase their multiculturalism of marketplaces and workforces. The new diversity definition rejects the concept of mandated targets and quota system in the organizational workplace. Moreover, it minimizes the risk of much of regulatory and legislative framework that accompanied the equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and equity legislation of employment in an organization. Since last two decades the Canadian organizations are practicing this workplace diversity as their key organizational process. Cultural Workplace Diversity The workplace diversity rests on several premises. The organizations need to practice a well-managed diversity in order to meet with the expectations of important stakeholder groups, such as tax payers or shareholders, employees, clients or customers, suppliers and society or community within which the organizations operate. Moreover, at the public policy development level, there is a crystal clear recognition that the diversity at a workplace is one of the critical variables in developing stable, progressive and harmonious societies. Cultural workplace diversity can provide effective competitive advantages in this world of competitive business environment. All the business owners can be benefited from implementing proactive human resource strategies. This process has helped the Canadian employers to build an effective culturally diverse workplace. It is important for the organizations to eventually promote the cultural diversity awareness among all the employees of the organization in order to leverage the benefits and advantages of cultural awareness in the workplace. Workplace Diversity at IBM Employees of IBM represent diverse and talented workforce. Accomplishing the potential of the diversity is a major business priority. Effective workplace diversity is the fundamental of IBM’s competitive success. Venerable commitment to equal opportunity is the major element in IBM’s workplace diversity program. Several business activities, such as promotion, hiring and compensation are performed without regard to religion, color, race, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, genetics or expression. These specific business activities, administration and design of IBM benefit the diversity plans abide by all kinds of applicable law. IBM provides workplace accommodations to qualified employees with disabilities. These are essential diversity plans that can enhance the performance of each and every employee. Giving value and respect to all the employees helped the organization to ensure an effective working environment which is free from all forms of conflicts and harassment. This policy depends upon effective business judgment strategy. Moreover, this policy anchored in the organizational values of IBM. All the managers of IBM abide by applicable laws and organizational policies of IBM. It helps the organization to fulfill their commitment to workplace diversity. According to IBM Canada, they acknowledge workplace diversity. It helped them to achieve success in specific industry. The organization created an effective workplace environment where each and every employee can understand or realize their ability and full potential. Workplace diversity is an important integral of success of IBM. This workplace diversity helped IBM to remove several conflicts and barriers. Moreover, this organizational strategy helped the employees of IBM to achieve both professional and personal goals. Workplace diversity allows IBM to attract effective brightest and best employees. Due to this process, the organization revealed several new and effective business opportunities. The employees of IBM around the globe including Canada have described what kind of organization these employees want to work for. Workplace diversity is an effective leverage point and competitive strength towards the industry and market leadership. IBM achieved several advantages through their workplace diversity programs and strategies. Collaborating and teaming workplace effort by the employees of IBM helped the organization to achieve their organizational goals and objectives. Effective workplace diversity helps IBM to provide significant customer satisfaction which is important in the competitive market place. Workplace diversity is an important topic in the global market place and workplace. It is true that, successful business organizations have a significant commitment and borderless view to ensure that the workplace diversity is an important part of the daily business conducts of those organizations. Appreciating various perspectives and listen to each other is important to the successful achievement of a diverse workforce. This strategy helped IBM to achieve organizational goals without any workplace conflict. The organization hires the new employees according to the qualification, effectiveness, potentiality and ability to respond. They always appreciate the performance of the qualified employees with disabilities. Due to these favorable organizational culture and effective workplace diversity process IBM is maintaining its standard performance within the industry. Benefits of Workplace Diversity Cultural awareness can be achieved when all the employees in an organization can be reached and every employee in the organization can appreciate the benefits of cultural workplace diversity. Implementation of workplace diversity process can bring individuals from different cultures to a specific table. It helps to develop new ideas, personalities and perspectives into the strategic planning process. Lastly it improves the workplace activities. Workplace diversity awareness can create a culture of mutual dignity and respect in an organization. In an addition, it increases the reputation of the employers in the competitive business market. Significant diverse workforce is required to realize, understand and respond to the aspirations and needs of diverse clients or customers. Workforce diversity at all organizational level is essential in order to satisfy the customers’ need. The private sector organizations need to understand the tendency of customers regarding product and service consumption. It will help the organizations to increase the market share of the organizations in the competitive Canadian market. Strong working relationship with the suppliers is the critical success factor for the business firms. The organizations need to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of all the linkages in the organization’s value chain network. The implementation of cultural diversity at the workplace will help to motivate the employees. Effective diversity management can reduce absenteeism. It is a powerful recruitment and orientation tool (Joshee & Johnson, 2011). It will help the employees to increase the skills and efficiency in the workplace. There are both intangible and tangible costs and benefits involved in a corporate citizenship. The performance of an organization in developing a diverse workplace is the key element in order to obtain a good and reputed corporate citizenship. Conclusion and Recommendations From the above analysis and discussion it can be stated that workplace diversity has increased the business efficiency of the Canadian organization. Before implementing the diversity at workplace, it is important for the employees and managers to understand each and every aspect of the workplace diversity. The following recommendation plans will be effective for the organizations to implement workplace diversity. The organizations need to offer diversity training programs for both new and senior employees. The diversity education and orientation programs can help the employees of the organization to recognize cultural assumptions and prejudices (Stinson, 2007). It will help the employees to increase their intercultural communication at the workplace. The managers of the organizations should follow the recruitment and selection diversity guidelines to bring transparency in selection process.
