RELI101-04 Term paper Buddhism Siddhartha was a prince from India that lived in the year 2500 B.C. His mother believed when she gave birth tohim that he would accomplish great things. The parents of Siddhartha had power in the caste system. The prince’s life was full of power, health, and love. One day his father took him to a farm; there he saw nature out the window for the first time. Upon his arrival to the castle the king ask the religious leaders about his child’s experiences. He was told that he would either be a tremendous king or a great religion leader. Once the king grew up he requested from his father to go out of the castle. In a tour he had he was four signs: the old man, sick man, monk, and death. After that revelation the king realize he was not living in reality. The prince made the decision to leave the castle in order to find answers his questions. When he left the castle he decided to be a mediator. It is my belief that the religion of Buddhism is associated to the Hinduism religion. Both of them believe in the concept of escaping from samsara also referred to as rebirth. A lot of people believe that Buddhism is in some way integrated within Hinduism. The religion of Buddhism was created when a young prince escaped from a life that was seen as fake. He did so in order to find reality. He decided to become the Buddha by being a mediator instead of a king. People believe that the religion of Buddhism does not allow its monks to get married, eat meat, or drink alcohol, but in reality this is not true. Zen Buddhism Zen Buddhism is a branch of Buddhism whose leader is the Buddha which them stands for emptiness. A lot of people believe the Zen Buddhism has a lot of similarities with Christianity, but there also many differences between both religions. Christians believe that God rules this world and each person has a soul that will either be send to heaven or earth upon death. Buddhism differs in that the followers of this religion do not believe in the existence of God, thus people can be free from samsara. They believe that through samsara or nirvana their souls escape from the rebirth cycle. Emptiness of nature is accomplished through religion. My opinion is that Zen Buddhism has uniqueness in Buddhism whose meaning is emptiness. The leader of both religions is Buddha. He had a unique mode of teaching his students. Instead of speaking to them he would hold a flower. Behind this practice monks understand their purpose and gain valuable knowledge in order to reach enlightenment. As a matter of fact there isn’t a particular algorithm to reach enlightenment. The Zen Buddhism religion started in China around 100 B.C. For Chinese people emptiness is reached through celibacy, solitary mediation, renunciation, and monasticism. The religion was not popular before, but it spread across Japan and China. Bhagavad Gita The Bhagavad Gita religion is part of Hinduism. This religion has many Gods and Goddess. The religion is based on the store about Arjun. Arjun was a warrior that didn’t want to fight the immortal soul of Atman. One of the main bases associated with this religion is Arjun and kisna; Arjun is based on the dilemma of destroying family and friends, while kisna is associated with righteousness. Atman and Brahman have comparable interpretation. There are several characters within the religion that have different meaning. A list of the characters and its meanings is illustrated below. Maya - illusion Karma - action Samsara – infinite rebirth Dharma – duty There are also various gods that have significance in Bhagavad Gita. The religion, Bhagavad Gita, formed from philosophical dialogue that was part of Hinduism. The story of Arjun and Krishna both of them were fighting for justice and truth, but Arjun’s perspective was that he did not want to cause harm to any other person. The lord Krishna obligated Arjun to battle since warriors fight as a sense of duty. Lord Krishna explained to Arjun that he wasn’t harming anyone since the soul rebirths once again in an ongoing rebirth cycle. Krishna made him realize his real form which is that of a god. He was chosen from god Krishna. Sciences and religion lecture A door of knowledge will be opened as a consequence of the connection between religion and science. Both sides will have a worldview that people can judge based on reality and a conceptual plan. The five constitutes of worldview are axiology, anthropology, metaphysic, epistemology, and cosmology. Both the religious and scientific positions are influenced by irrelevance, quasi-relevance, direct relevance, and indirect relevance. The classification of knowledge of quantum physics and Buddhism can be described in two parts which are qualitative and quantitative. The knowledge of religion is based on qualitative information. Science is uses both qualitative and quantitative information. An interesting aspect of religion is that it presents knowledge of true or false. Scientific knowledge is observed, progressive and tentative, while religion knowledge does not have those attributes. Scientific knowledge is based on the fact that something can be proven by calculation. Science does not give options of yes or know to know which is better. To provide proof to the masses religion uses holy books to guide its followers. Science presents a variety of topics to people that want to learn about science. Religious Ethic The concept of ethics can be defined as a set of moral principles that embody a person or religion. Some of those religions include Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, and Hinduism. The religions require ethical elements which are fact, worldview, and moral values. A fact is present when something is obtained through calculation or analysis. Worldview is an individual perspective that leads to aspects such as skill, knowledge, beliefs, and experience among others. Moral values are present through guided actions and traditional religion. There are three types of religion ethics. These are teleological, deontological, and relational. It is my belief that each religion has its own ethical perspective in regards to teaching or presenting their religion to the people of the world. Ethics are sorter under religions as teleological, relational, and deontological. A lot of the elements of the religion are informational and its basis in not based on general knowledge. Religions that use an ethical basis typically attract a lot of followers. Read More
