The experience in marketing has taught me practical managing techniques that I wish to utilize in your company. Assignment 4 Reflection summary Every student has aspiration of joining the professional world. This is usually concerned with his or her major. I found this experience an eye opener of the issues that matter the most yet people do not realize their importance. I learnt many aspects pertaining professions and requirements for various jobs. This will surely be a game changer in reference to how I view the outside world in regard to my field of interest. I gained a lot in terms of employment requirements. The seminar was eye opening on how I can succeed in applying and succeeding through the interview process. In addition, I wanted to learn about the considerations that employers look for apart from the educational background and qualifications. I intended to fully understand employability and consulting skills which I will definitely use when I graduate. With advice and experience with professionals, I ensured that every interactive session answered my pressing questions regarding employment. This ranged from marketability of my course and also extra requirements that I may need in order to have an upper hand during recruitment. I am a confident person who dares where other shy away from. During the sessions, I ensured that none of my questions went unanswered. I was confident that I would develop enough skills to equip myself with ready for use after graduation. Being from a business family, I understand that asking questions and taking risk defines the success of a strategy. Thus, confidence in ideas and thoughts is a great pillar where my success lies. Time is important in business especially in decision making. I have noted that time management is a problem to me. I will need to adjust and be more time conscious. Despite the fact that I take time to deliver quality, there may be other means to improve my timing without affecting quality. As such, time management will be the weakest area that I will need to develop. I will develop these skills by ensuring that any activity I undertake will have a schedule in which I will try as much as possible to observe. This will apply to all my activities; wring my projects and my daily informal activities. This will help me build on my time management skills that have been problematic to me. Before embarking task, I will ensure that every necessity is available to avoid any delays. Since I have identified it as a weakness, I will take the challenge to make it strength. Skills in business are subject to experience, education and individual effort. My effort will be aimed at mitigation my shortcomings. I will ensure that I succeed in my goals by making sure all the scheduling is done at the right time with reasonable timings. If time management is an issue, then I will make sure I arrange my projects in advance. An example is that if I am a marketing manager, I will be planning for a marketing experience or event before schedule so that I may have an overview of what may happen or causes of delays. Assignment 5 What I have learned about how well I can market myself to employers In my opinion, there are two main important fundamentals to market myself to firms. The first thing is to present professional curriculum vitae (CV) with supporting documents. A curriculum vita is influential in making a candidate’s application worthy of consideration. CV is normally the first impression a potential employer wields for a potential candidate, thus, the better the CV, the higher the chances of recruitment. In this regard, I will ensure that I have attached all my necessary qualifications in my CV to show the employers some of my good qualities and why I am the best candidate for the job. An interview gives the potential employer a chance to probe and get first-hand information about a candidate (Matt 2007). I will surely use this chance to make my capabilities known to my employer. I believe this will raise my rating as a possible candidate. I will use knowledge gained on successful interviews to depict my professional being. This will be accompanied by thorough research about a company that will enable me tackle any internal questions effectively. The first impression that employers have of a candidate may define the outcome of a recruitment drive. In this regard, I will always pose a positive image, in verbal interchanges to dress codes that are in line with the potential employer. What I have learned about my chosen industry My interest was in the television industry in Thailand. I learnt that a company’s characteristics define its market share. From my readings, I found that Thai TV market is dominated by few companies, the major ones being Sony and Samsung. However, these companies do not share the market equally. I discovered that Sony has greater market share due to its competitiveness in term of price and variety. A business success is defined by several factors such as competition, political environment, economic, technology, legal and social environment; otherwise known as PESLE (Campbell 2005, p 46). Consequently, internal characteristics of a company, say management, also affect the success of a company acquiring and maintaining a market share. A company has the power to attract and lock in consumers by employing price and variety mechanism into its products. Sony, produces a variety of TV sets improves the consumer choices in regard to variety. This implies that I each TV purchase, there is a high likelihood that it will be a Sony brand. From market analysis, a company success lies on the ability of its marketing department to learn about the market, the current state and possible changes. This can help a firm adapt and place itself in a strategic position to deal with any disturbances such as competition in prices and quantities. Bibliography Campbell, D.
