Defining Beauty Essay

The definition of the word beauty carries different meanings for different people depending on the occasion. Some people view it as a petite model with silky hair and makeup on the front cover of a magazine. Others see it as the giving nature of a woman with no expectations of ever receiving. They view it as an internal thing and not external appearances. The ambiguous nature of the word makes it hard to find a fitting term. Many people have given up on finding the right meaning to the point they believe it is non-existent.

The versatility in the word creates heated debates in public. Everyone has their description of beauty. One thing that is for sure is that it exists. It can be seen with our eyes and also felt with our hearts.

Many people are used to beauty as the superficial and external part of one’s appearance. Most people believe that beauty must be seen to be believed. Therefore, a girl has to put on makeup to fit the definition of a beautiful creature. However, this is so far from the truth.

The on-going debate on body image is heating up with each person bringing their input in defining beauty. A consensus among many individuals is that we are all beautiful with our different body shapes and sizes. It is more than what is on the outside but more of what is in the inside. You have to believe in this because it speaks of inclusivity.

We cannot argue that we are all beautiful with our different body shapes, either tall or short, fat or skinny, black or white, we are the same. You can still be beautiful in any shade you come in. I also tend to believe that it is what the inside that counts. Personality is the ultimate test for bringing our wholesome nature. Character deals with how you relate with people and how they view you from that relation. However, when we say looks don’t matter, there is a stretch because, in essence, they do. This is brewed in the mentality of a person; hence, whether it is viewed ethically wrong, it can be a result of the person’s ignorance. In case an individual grew up knowing the beauty is defined only by the physical appearance that makes their individual opinion. The fact cannot be taken away from the person or deemed as wrong to define something beautiful.

The second type of type that is usually underrated, but important is internal beauty. You have probably heard most people say that it’s what’s in the inside count. Others also say that it is your happiness that matters. Others go a stretch to say that what’s important is your personality that makes who you are. Internal beauty counts as what is in the inside of the person. Some traits that make up the inner beauty include generosity, charisma, and personality, among many more. These characteristics help in the molding of an individual. Growth showed me that there is much to beauty than outward appearances. This took me back to my days in school, where there was a beautiful girl who charmed everybody. However, she was arrogant to her classmates. She believed that because she was beautiful, she could get away with anything. Her attitude made her start losing friends one by one. In the end, she did not have any friends. She learned an important lesson that inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. She changed her attitude and started having friends again.

Having this mentality is important in giving you the sense to view others more than their physical appearances. Some individuals believe that inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. The thinking criteria for defining one’s beauty should not be thought of as wrong. It should be acknowledged whether people think that the personality outweighs their makeup. It forms part of their overall persona.

Others believe that somebody’s measurement of their internal or external beauty is not dependent on them. Internal and external beauty is defined differently by the rest of the world. You get to decide whether you feel beautiful or not. Beauty starts with oneself and falls on either view of what beauty is. Each human you meet will have a different definition of your beauty. Your cab driver will have a different opinion of your beauty than the store manager you ran into today while shopping. You have to make your inner beauty start with you by reaffirming yourself that you are beautiful. It would help if you much had much more than inner beauty to make it through this cruel and cold world.

This is the advice a dad can say to their child when growing up. I am not a firm believer that positive reinforcements can change your physical appearance. Receiving love also cannot change how your body shape appears or the color of your hair. What I know is that some beauty comes with a person fulfilled with joy even with age. It is something that comes with being with another individual who takes you for who you are. It is about finding happiness in your life and the things you do.

The nature of beauty cannot fall into one definition. It is a versatile and complex structure. There are no bounds or limits to how something can be beautiful. Also, there is no extent to how something cannot be beautiful. You cannot erase beauty since it is something that lasts forever. Everyone has a different set of eyes when it comes to seeing beauty. No one can stand and say that their definition of love is correct, while those of others are incorrect. This definition reflects what beauty is. It is essential to note that beauty does exist. We get the chance to feel beautiful each time we live our lives with others. This defining beauty essay lets us see the beauty in a human being and not only the outward appearance.
