This paper will propose different mechanism which Queensland Railways could have adopted and the manner in which the adoption of ways could have yield effectiveness in the process of carrying out different activities. About the Organization Queensland Railways as the name suggest looks at providing basic transport services in Queensland. The railways to improve their business has looked at making changes by changing the organizational structure, centralizing the staff function, making changes in the human resource areas, focusing towards customer orientation and developing ways through which effectiveness has been gained in the entire process of carrying out different activities. The entire process has multiplied the different opportunities for the business and has helped to improve the business quality but continues to face different issues concerning employees, satisfaction and motivation of employees, difficulties in communicating and executing the plans. Queensland Railways needs to focus towards determining ways which will lead effectiveness and will help to ensure that the entire business process changes leads towards multiplying effectiveness. This will thereby look at focusing on developing different ways and alternatives through which better changes can be initiated and the manner in which different changes are made can be better implemented. Identification of Different Issues The railways while looking to implement the change process is facing different issues which need to be addressed and ways have to be developed so that better effectiveness is gained. Some of the issues which can be associated with the change process of Queensland Railways are as Queensland Railways faces issues associated with the functioning of the railways as employees are not clear about their role in the organization. Employees don’t understand the different task which they need to perform and the manner in which their duties and obligations need to be carried out Changes in the organizational structure and reporting level is a new aspect for employees working in Queensland Railways. This has complicated the level of difficulty as they don’t know the manner in which their roles are to be carried out (Duncombe, 2004). Employees don’t have the knowledge regarding it and having proper training will help to ensure clarity and help employees to carry out their roles Culture is another obstacle which the employees are facing as moving away from the old traditional culture to a more focused approach which looks at customer orientation is an aspect employees are unclear. Changing and integrating the new culture by making changes in the manner organizations outlook towards new culture is an aspect which is ignored and needs to be addressed so that major changes in the same direction can be addressed. The change in the human resource policy by looking to downsize the underperforming employees, hiring employees from outside the organization, different training need and increase in the level of involvement for employees is an aspect which has been ignored. This has raised resistance from employees as they are unwilling to move from traditional ways and is thereby acting as an hindrance in the path of growth which needs to be addressed The other issues which Queensland Railways is facing are that the employees are not trained with the new system which has affected their motivational level to work (Dent & Goldberg, 2009). The employees are facing difficulties in executing the plan as they don’t have the required knowledge and thereby requires to develop ways through which overall effectiveness and phenomenon in controlling business can be garnered Change Management & Change Agent Change management is a part of business which needs to be made at regular interval so that the business is able to develop the required fundamentals through which better business process can be achieved. Queensland Railways has looked at changing as the business hasn’t been able to perform on the same standards and is facing difficulties in dealing with the business needs. The different needs thereby needs to be addressed properly and should be looked at with complete details so that business is able to gain effectiveness and is able to bring about a change in the manner different activities is measured. Queensland Railways to improve the manner in which the different work process is carried out has to hire the services of a specialist or a change agent. Since, they are people wilt specialized knowledge in their respective fields they can contribute towards the process of change by developing policies and strategies which helps to improve effectiveness. Queensland Railways needs to address the different issues and look at having specialist. This will help the business is dealing with the different resistance and will always provide a platform through which major changes and ramifications can be carried out. Having change agents and specialist who have the knowledge will ensure that the problems which Queensland Railways is encountering presently. The change agent will act as a pacifier and will help to integrate the old culture with the new culture and will transform the organization in such a manner that the business will be able to fetch maximum gains. The process will also help to improve the decision making process and will lead towards improving the manner in which the different resources are used. Planned Change Process The planned change process can be improved and molded so that the business is able to bring about a complete change and ramification in carrying out the different roles and responsibilities. This requires different models like value chain, mission statement, vision statement, and different trends which are affecting the business to ensure that they are able to compete on a global level (Walsh 1995, pp. 280-231). Using different process and mechanism which has an impact on the manner in which the different resources are used will improve the process of dealing and carrying out different activities. To improve the overall process business will have to deal with the aspect of cultural differences and has to bring about a major changes so that business is able to deal with the different needs and requirements. Queensland Railways will have to focus towards improving the process of using different resources and will have to look at using different models and methods through which business process changes can be carried out. To bring effectiveness Queensland Railways will have to look at the following Development of new management policies: The management has to bring about a change in policy as can be seen from the change in reporting structure, change in organizational structure and also reduction of different layers to a more centralized approach. This needs to be communicated properly and the employees have to understand the manner in which they need to act so that they are able to take wise decisions and are able to determine the process through which better effectiveness in dealing will be achieved. Dealing with cultural changes: Queensland Railways needs to address the issue of cultural changes and have to develop policies through which employees feel comfortable. This will make the employees to feel part of the organization and will be better committed towards the organizational goals. This aspect looks to identify the different measures that have an effect on the performance of the employee which is being looked by other companies in the global environment (workload, productivity, and other aspects of the work domain) (Bridges, 2003). Addressing those issues will help to provide the framework through which employees are able to come together and remove their differences. Communication Process The organization while looking to identify the manner in which the business has been able to deal with changes has to develop a process which aims towards improving communication among people. This will help the employees to understand what is expected of them and will provide a framework through which business process will be controlled. Having a clear communication process will tend to improve clarity and will clear a process where employees will be certain regarding the manner they need to act. This will help the employees to work in a predetermined manner and will be in a position where they understand their different roles in a better way. Having a clear communication process will also tend to reduce the risk and will develop the required scope where all employees will be able to work towards a common goal. Evaluation of Changes The process of change has to be evaluated at regular intervals by Queensland Railways. Queensland Railways needs to address the manner in which the business was able to understand the different changes while looking to carry out different work. This will help Queensland Railways to monitor the entire process and identify the different areas through which better control will be exercised (Alvarez, 2008). Evaluating the changes will also be in a position through which effectiveness will be dealt and timely changes can be made so that the business is able to adjust to the different needs and requirements. This will improve the overall focus as change agents will be able to make ramifications and changes to improve the manner in which business works. This will help to improve the process of carrying out activities and will lead towards bringing gains. Conclusion The paper thereby looks at analyzing the manner in which Queensland Railways needs to make changes in the process of carrying out activities and the manner in which the business will be able to yield effectiveness. The paper highlights the manner in which Queensland Railways needs to address the different issues and needs to understand the different dimensions which has to be focused so that business work is carried out in the best way.
