? Re-engineering computer and electrical engineering in Cleveland Re-engineering computer and electrical engineering in Cleveland State University Abstract The research here aims at giving credibility to the electrical and computer engineering in terms of the content needed in both the theoretical and practical part of it. Today the technology is accelerating at a very high note implicating that the machines used in operations are changing with time and the labor-intensive part of it is needed to have the expertise in operating it. This research aims at articulating and designing the computer and electrical engineering department to have the credential in offering the best and indefectible units that are to built the upcoming engineers both in the field and theoretical. The faculty of engineering for time now in Cleveland University is a tool that has for seen many students come out to emerge as challenging and experts in these fields. Computer and electrical engineering has imposed more technological heighten and with it several of the fields of study are improving in machine orientation. Fields of business, medical, survey, planning, architecture among others relies on electronic competence to accomplish and abridge their work. Still today many engineering students are Specific aims Computer and electrical engineering are faculties that are proving to be the backbone of the technological innovations. Still there are many challenges behind the teaching of the faculty courses in offering what is really required of the program to have. Propose for the research in Cleveland university is to have: 1. Equipped laboratory with modern machined and tools to help in teaching. More of the laboratory to be added are Digital system research laboratory Digital communication research laboratory Software engineering research laboratory 2. Adding up more equipped and sophisticated lectures in these fields to help students. 3. Employing more technicians who will be able to help students with the new technological machines equipped in the new laboratories. 4. Considering adding more practical in power electronics and machine, robot dynamics and control and modern digital design intensified. Background and significance of research problem Engineering is defined as design application of theoretical principles and engineering experience to the practical solution to technical problems. Engineering in Cleveland state university is a faculty that has been prosperous in both the theory teaching and practical and this has made is possible to offer up to doctorate level in academics. The program includes required courses and an integration selection courses in the student field of interest which are communication system, computer systems, control and power and power systems. Modeling the engineering field will help the student come out with a lot of experience. Since the university has an internal workshop for students and also a research for masters and PhD students, there have been more setbacks in machine orientation and layout but with the addition of this then definitely there will be bulk in terms of equipping students. The aim and the objective of the university is to mould competent engineers in their respective faculty. Iam concerned with this research because it is aiming at educating students and making them ready to face the real world with confidence. Student develop their interest and motivational skills when they are shown the way and how things are done and this is a better way of ensuring that students are thought how to think but not what to think. It's obvious that most have a sense of community, but the question then becomes how to help them transfer some of that sense of community to what we consider to be "learning". Pardon the quotes around those, but I'm appropriate more persuaded on our curriculum does not have as outsized effect on what the students are learning as we suppose. Our school aspiration for the year is “Focus on Learning” and seeing if our curriculum is aligned with our Student Learning Outcomes. This project should fit in well. Preliminary results My preliminary study of the electrical and computer engineering eyes the way forward in providing best and quality academic goal in both theory and practical and more emphasis on power electronics and machine, robot dynamics and control and modern digital design. With regard to this preliminary investigation does not intent to show that this units initially never performed to the standards but it is a way in which will improve the way in which the system was being followed into a more intense in offering bulk and quality academic. Education is always accompanied by intense practical of the job you are prioritizing and always there must be a presence of knowledgeable instructors to help you through the understanding of the concept. The study does not critics the program the university is offering but there is need to add more on some subjects to be able to create a competent and more understanding because modern technology emphasizes on those units. Research approach and schedule When you look at the modern world things are shifting so fast. Looking flipside in narration human beings did supplementary of their work manually but lately everything is whirling to be in machine form. These machines have programs enabling them perform and are electronically connected to create current flowing in order to drive the mechanical parts. This tools in summary must use the technology of computers and electronics to work. When you picture every company coming up, there are many objectives and one of them is to be advanced technologically. The question here is are the engineers graduating from institutions ready to tackle and operate this machines? The question t be answered then action must speak louder than words. Many students graduating from university have claims that they are unable to tackle certain machines because in the academic journey they haven’t really been familiar with his as a way to make them ready to face the industry with much courage then this has to be an option. My study hypothesis was through questionnaire, interviews, and observation. I carried out this research round the university trying to inquire from the student on what was a challenge for their academic performance and job market expectations when they are out of the university. My research also was to at least have data from previous graduates from Cleveland State University who may be able to intensively identify the possibility and the weakness of the program. Outcomes, including plans for dissemination of results and follow-on work The university must look upon the ways in which they will be able to purchase this machines to be able to curb the rising demand in expertise in this field. The fields to look into are power electronics and machine, modern digital design intensified and robotics and control. Power Semiconductor Devices for Variable Frequency Drives, Electrical Machines for Drives, Power Electronic Converters for Drives, Pulse Width Modulation for Electronic Power Converters, Motion Control with Induction Motors, Variable Frequency Permanent Magnet AC Machine Drives, High Power Industrial Drives, Simulation of Power Electronic and Motion Control Systems, Estimation, Identification, and Sensor less Control of AC Drives, Microprocessors and Digital ICs for Control of Power Electronics and Drives, Expert System, Fuzzy Logic, and Neural Networks in Power Electronics and Drives. In terms of employing lectures, the institution must look intensively into industries that have people operating these machines and at least take time in convincing them to make some time to come and help student in operating this machines. The degree in of practical will equip students enormously. Employing technicians will be a trickier thing because they will have to employ people with machine knowledge who will be able to fix the machines after the practical demolition of the machines durig practices. Budget, including justification Machines Estimated cost Power Semiconductor Devices for Variable Frequency Drives 3800 Electrical Machines for Drives 4200 Power Electronic Converters for Drives 4000 Pulse Width Modulation for Electronic Power Converters 2000 Motion Control with Induction Motors 5000 Variable Frequency Permanent Magnet AC Machine Drives 5000 High Power Industrial Drives, Simulation of Power Electronic and Motion Control Systems 3500 Sensor less Control of AC Drives 3000 Fuzzy Logic 3300 Microprocessors and Digital ICs for Control of Power Electronics and Drives 5500 Expert System 2750 Neural Networks in Power Electronics and Drives 5350 Lecturers 5700 Technicians 3200 Miscellaneous 3700 TOTAL $ 60,000 Reference Clevelend State University(2012).
