Refugees’ claims are usually very complex since it is always difficult to ascertain with accuracy the allegations made and therefore there is a need to determine the truth of the allegation properly. Recently there has been concern on whether the country should continue supporting the refugees who continue to increase in number every day. Those who oppose the government’s efforts of assisting the refugees cite the many inevitable disadvantages that are associated with the immigrants. They argue that the disadvantages associated with them outweigh the advantages and therefore the government should limit its involvement in the refugee programs in order to control the number of people streaming into the country.

However, there is a need to continue to review the policies in order to continue supporting the immigrants since they are needy people who just like all other human being have their rights and freedoms. Moreover, the reasons that make them to seek residence in Canada are usually out of their control and hence their actions of seeking asylum are motivated by the inherent human desire of wanting better livelihood. There is a need to review the policies since the current laws and regulation do not provide adequate measures to test the various claims made by people seeking refugee status in the country.

The policies for a long time have been very relaxed and have hence provided room for many people with selfish agendas that are detrimental to the national goals to have access to Canada. United States War resistors such as Jeremy Hinzman usually found their way to Canada very easily by pretending to be offering job offers and hence apply for immigrant status, which was then granted without much questioning. This loophole should be rectified to prevent terrorist and other such people from entering into the country since recently there has been a major global concern on the increasing terrorist activities (Molloy, 2012).
