The Reflection of Facial Expressions to One’s Thinking The Reflection of Facial Expressions to One’s Thinking Introduction Human psychologists assert that people’s facial expressions convey certain messages about the thoughts running in their minds at a given time. The importance of learning the meanings of such facial expressions emanates from the need to understand the possible reactions that one should expect during communication or the actions that such people might show in addressing certain matters. It is vital to understand that the reactions be alleviating to harm, positive to enhance the mood of the environment, friendly, and dangerous among others (Pease & Pease, 2013). The study develops the understanding about facial expressions’ communications to predict happiness, sadness, disgust, contempt, surprise, fear, and angry moods. The psychological prediction of facial expressions According to research, people often tend to react as though they are coping with hardships but through their facial expressions, an expert can predict their mental status and the moods. The study of people’s facial expressions is vital in the eradication of chances whereby people might judge others depending on their verbal talk (Nierenberg & Calero, 1971). Scholars have identified various methods, which people should use in evaluating other people’s thoughts from the evidence presented through their facial expressions. The psychological ideology enables observers to avoid the misconception of information that emanates from the use of assumptions. Happiness Research asserts that a person’s happiness might be genuine or forced, but it is from the use of psychological evaluation tactics that a person would be capable of evaluating the reality of the emotional situation. For example, the professional studies indicate the presence of wrinkled muscles above the eyes of a person whose smile is not genuine (Beattie, 2004). It is notable that people force to show their happiness whenever they are in social events, and are afraid of behaving from their uneasiness in the crowded places (McNeill, 1992). Therefore, it is vital for a person to pay attention to the possibility of wrinkles in the faces of those people who are unhappy about certain factors, but are trying their best to avoid being recognized as discontented about the immediate situations (Pease & Pease, 2013). The presence of puffy muscles along the eyebrows is evidence to show that the people are engaged in a series of thoughts that hurt their emotions; hence, they are unhappy about something, but they are unable to portray the emotions to their companions, friends, or any other groups of people in the environment. Sadness Sadness is an emotion that people are unable to hide from their immediate environment. Psychologists argue the presence of wrinkled muscles in the face as indications to depict the presence of sad emotions. Further, people should be critical in evaluating the position of the eyebrows since whenever the two go up evenly, the person under observation would be sad. The other characteristic used in identifying the emotional characteristics of people is the evaluation of their mouth positions. Experts in the discipline assert that sad people’s mouths often point downwards at the ends (McNeill, 1992). The sulky nature of such characters is a sign of their unhappiness towards certain experiences that might have crossed their lives in the past or in the present time (Beattie, 2004). A scholar in the field bears the ability to identify the presence of the muscles that portray sadness, and it is known that pretenders would not fake the entire situation to be sad since some of the muscles will not show (Nierenberg & Calero, 1971). The controversial approaches used in the identification of genuine and fake happiness establish the use of professional knowledge to enhance the acquisition of the positive results. Studies indicate that facial gestures are common approaches that enable psychologists to study people’s thoughts. Suspense It is realistic to conclude that a person who blinks numerous to another while taking time to look at a different direction communicates the need to change the discussion or to watch out, as the immediate change in the environment does not allow the continuation of search the ongoing activities. A person with adequate knowledge in psychology would accrue the gestures’ meanings and try to stop. Therefore, blinking of the eyes in specific situations is evidence that the person showing the actions is aware of the imminent danger upon avoidance to halt the ongoing activities. During such occasions, people should be critical to identify the presence of wrinkles at the end of the eyes (Pease & Pease, 2013). Further, the people’s facial muscles will contract; hence, they will tend to be serious about their actions for their recipients to understand the essence of their communication. Research argues that it is impossible for people to mask the emotions presented by the situations they seek to avoid; hence, their communication will appear serious. A psychologist should use such information to identify fake and real facial communication since the smile muscles might be present whenever the communication is vague. Surprise and fear emotions Surprising emotions are inevitable to show since they occur without people’s awareness; thus, compelling facial expressions to appear in accordance to the surprise’s nature. For example, people react with excitement whenever they are acquire unexpected, but positive information about something that they might have longed to know the results. The theoretical approaches used to evaluate people’s thoughts and the facial reactions in the event of a surprise argue that the mouths drop and open while their eyelids open widely in a period of one to five seconds after receiving the news (McNeill, 1992). However, the facial expressions do not exceed five seconds after the conception of the news, but in the event of exaggerations or faking. The clarification of facial expressions in the event of surprises enables other people to understand their thoughts and the expected reactions towards the disclosed events (Nierenberg & Calero, 1971). In every society, people face fierce and dangerous challenges that spur the emotion of fear. The theoretical application of psychological evaluation to identify whether a certain person is afraid of the consequences he might face whenever they are challenged over their wrong acts. Arguably, the emotion of fear occurs whenever the victims’ acts are wrong and controversial to the expected or authorized (McNeill, 1992). Contrary to the expected situations that expose people to fear, it is vital to understand that people show fear whenever they are misunderstood and victimized to be responsible towards certain acts whose consequences pose dangers to their lives (Pease & Pease, 2013). In identifying fear, psychologists argue that people should be critical in observing the victims’ eyes since they should be wide the eyelid muscles tense. Anger, disgust, contempt thoughts Anger is another emotion, which conveys to the observer that a person is unhappy and his thoughts compel him to react towards the challenge. The psychological evaluation of anger as a mental aspect is possible through the observation of the hurt person’s face since the eyes should open narrowly and squint. The emotional thoughts compel people to open their mouths wide, while their lips remain narrow. Further, their sad muscles will show and the people’s vision will tend to narrow (Nierenberg & Calero, 1971). The psychological aspects of identifying anger enable people to define the expected consequences whenever the remorseful characters react physically towards the challenges (Pease & Pease, 2013). Disgust and contempt are additional thoughts that compel people to show their facial expressions. Conclusion The study acknowledges the argument that facial expressions are vital in predicting people’s thoughts (Beattie, 2004). The psychological interpretation of people’s thoughts through their facial expressions is important as it enables a person to understand the expected results under persistence. The study compels people to choose the right actions to impose in controlling the outcomes of the events. For example, whenever people are angry or sad, a psychologically intelligent person can adapt alternative measures to reduce the extent at which the victims of the mental thoughts might react (McNeill, 1992). Lastly, the use psychological facts in evaluating people’s thoughts through their facial expressions promote healthy relationships as it reduces misunderstandings.
