This model, tries to relate the idea of information handling with peoples personality. With people handling information in different ways, personalities also become different. I chose this model since it tries to explain deeply about human mental organization. For anyone to cope with the world, they have to integrate and organize the information given to them by the world (Salkovskis, 2011). The manner in which they cope and integrate to the given information leads to the development of their behavior which later on builds their personality.

Personality is therefore the product of behavior, which is the product of information integration. One of the major contributors to this model is Aaron Beck. Aaron was a famous psychiatrist who worked in the 60’s as a senior psychiatrist. He had background training in psychoanalysis and explored deeper knowledge into the understanding of the arenas of human personality. Before his emergence, few people understood the main principles behind human personality. He later came up with cognitive therapy after much research into the cognitive behavioral theory.

With this therapy, he treated depression patients as well as those suffering from anxiety. In his work, Aaron was able to contribute a lot to psychiatry and he realized that most of psychiatric cases could be treated by an in-depth analysis of the background of those affected and knowing what they were exposed to before the condition. The most interesting theory of this model is the cognitive behavioral theory. This theory suggests that human behavior is enigma and that the behavioral pattern of a person is directly connected to the manner in which they think, and perceive information.

This theory is one of the major branches of psychology and is involved in; hearing, perception and how people think. This theory links with neuroscience and it is because of this that it sounds acceptable to most scholars. It is interesting to note that based on this theory, people only act after processing some information. This theory has helped investigative officers solve mysteries behind criminal activities by studying criminal behavior and hence always being a step ahead of the criminals.

The theory has also been in the forefront in developing psychiatry and therapies that are given to psychiatric patients. The most interesting article was cognitive behavioral approaches by James McGuire. This article tries to go deep into understanding how offenders think. In the article, several criminals are monitored in prison and after prison to find out if there is any relationship between their criminal records and their day to day behavior. The article outline theoretical basis of how cognitive behavioral methods can be used in offender programs to help correct their character.

The article deeper analyzes effective ways on how the staff can be trained to ensure that this program is effectively delivered. At the end, the article list new ways that can be used to work with offenders in trying to change the way that they behave and make it better for the benefit of the society (McGuire, 2012). In addition to this, the article also contains information on how psychiatry is developed in the mind. After reading the article, one is able to understand psychiatric patie
