Imaginary Societies: Black And White of Drug Legalization The ideology of the legalization of drugs is a mislaid piece that is practically utopian and dystopian in the black market. The liberalization of the black market to allow free flow of drugs would result in an unpleasant environment. Legal restrictions help to moderate the transaction of illegal business and legalization of the drugs hikes the level possession and supply of currently prohibited substances. There is no a clear way of making drugs safe; however, drugs cause completely new and different kind of negative externalities to an individual.

In many states, the medical institutions control the production and distribution of drugs. Nevertheless, the criminal organization conducts drug trade business through the illegal markets on the streets. The widespread utilization of these drugs causes unnecessary misery to the society and elevating the levels of poverty in the countries. As a result, the state uses strict legal frameworks and regulation to guard its nationalities against the adverse effects of the drug. It makes the world safe for the up and coming generation.

In addition, it limits the organized crime groups from the drug disbursement process and mandates the doctors and pharmacists to that effect. Legalization of light drugs would save many economic revenues lost in drug-related crimes. The government uses the revenue to improve public health and free police time that adds up in serving the community. The pros and cons of legalization of light drugs cannot be made solely on rational grounds. Legalization of drugs stifles every drug policy and can contribute to further harm to the community.

Nevertheless, it would result in the availability of the drugs and at a cheap price to the consumers satisfaction. It boosts the consumer surplus in the business community by that increasing the well-being of the society. In the modern society, technology has taken a nosedive with globalization hence the need to stringently curb illegal drug supply becomes critical and paramount. The use of untested drugs to humans only shows the adverse effects of drug legalization. On the upper side, it relieves the authorities of extra duties to follow up on violators but at the cost of everyone health in the community.

Despite the fact that it is purely an impractical idea, its margins of realization are so highly blown out of proportions. Drug legalization overlooks and disregards the welfare of the society, especially with its implementation in a dystopian sort of way. It is very unsafe in the real world to allow the free trade of drugs. Some oversight organizations that ensure quality drugs are produced will lose their operational meaning. However, the harmful proportions will depend on the level of usage of the drug by the consumer.

In reality, the practice is so rampant where the drug supply comes from the illegal markets. Legalization of drugs increases the rate of drug usage per person, but at the same time reduces the amount of damage done per unit. Drugs supplied from the illegal markets because more harm to the society and the individuals. The high levels of profit seeking in the illegal drug merchandise results in intense competition. In the absence of legal regulation, it manifests itself in the form of violence and criminal activities.

Many apprehended criminals end up overloading the prisons.Additionally, the production of legal drugs is less expensive compared to the illegal drugs. Legalization of the drugs maximizes on the tax revenue returns by using a cheaper production method that is a fraction no the illegal market. Statistically, legal drug production of marijuana is 4% less in price compared to its replica in the illegal market (Parks 17). In addition, there is a possibility of revenue collection in the drug business if the whole system is legit via drug taxation.

However, in another light, legalization of the drug market will not get rid of the illegal market. The sizes of the two markets will depend on the prices and drug quality production despite the biased preference of legal drugs by the consumers. In conclusion, the legalization of drugs creates a nation full of addicts due to increased number of users. Legalized drugs boost the revenue through drug taxation and alleviate the crime rate level through the legalities put forth for its regulation. However, its adverse effects firmly outweigh this positivity by far, from the social to the economic profiling.

It is ethical to acknowledge that the idea is excellent but impractical and leads to a no-good society.Work CitedParks, Peggy J. Drug Legalization. San Diego, CA: Reference Point Press, 2009.
