December 7, 1941, made Murrow meet Roosevelt. The text helps us understand the relationship between journalism and politics. He knew that Roosevelt’s offer of aid matched just exactly the then demands of Britain. He understood the whole policy of the USA behind the aid. The text is a depiction of Murrow’s fondness for Britain. It also depicts his hard-hitting pragmatism about the war. It could be predicted that Murrow would be among those few individuals who would act as a bridge between Britain and the United States. In short, the whole text revolves around one main factor, that is, the courage and expertise of a journalist who was brave enough to do the live broadcasting among all the bedlam and chaos. The reader gets baffled when he reads that all that happened during the whole phase of confusion and anarchy could not shake a journalist even a little bit. Read More
