Interpretation and Judgment: Controversial Art Now that I have received broad information about Ofili, I feel that it is never possible to judge a person before one gets all the information about him. In essence, I feel delighted to have gained insightful information about Ofili and his works, especially considering that I have similar interests as him. I feel well informed about Chris Ofili, particularly when it comes to his works of art. Currently, I know many facts about him that I did not know previously, perhaps due to ignorance.

Fundamentally, I had assumed many things about him, making me to misinterpret and misjudge him. Overall, I feel enlightened in the area of controversial arts and the role played by Chris Ofili in advancing controversial arts.Concerning the controversies that occurred, it is worth noting that Chris Ofili was both explicit and implicit in his controversial work, especially the religious controversial works. A good example of his controversial religious artworks is The Holy Virgin Mary, which is a sensation that attracts admiration and outrage in equal measure.

Before I was informed, I did not know the controversies that surrounded Chris Ofili’s works and what had happened, but after going through all the information, I am elated and equally shocked.I totally agree with the sentiments of the Catholic Church and Rudy Giuliani that are against the presentation of Ofili’s artworks in public museums. One has to understand from the onset that interpretation plays a key role as far as the formation of controversy is concerned. However, it is important to consider the cultural contexts of these controversial artworks and the role that they play in the society, especially as far as the advancement of visual arts is concerned.
