Lines also give objects outlines which are known as contour lines as well as compositional lines that reflect the shape of an object which eventually conveys a sense of the movement or the character of the object. Thin lines usually seem delicate and weak while the thick lines usually seem aggressive and strong. Additionally, flat lines portray calmness while the wavy lines show roughness and angular lines tend to climb upwards.

Learning Objective #2: Explain the Color Wheel
The COLOR WHEEL is an important and widely used instrument for artists and designers with a circular arrangement of the hues/colors of the light spectrum. Color is very important with regard to implying EMOTIONAL content in a work of art such as advancing hues are most often thought to have less visual weight than the receding hues while warm, saturated, light value hues are "active" and visually advanced. There exist a number of different color wheels, serving different purposes and therefore there is no standard color wheel. The different color wheels serve different purposes such as mixing colors, determining colors, and selecting colors. There are lots of information existing about color theory such as the effect on how we feel, behave, and how we react to objects. The degree of contrast of colors that range from light to dark creates a melodramatic graphical effect that presents the monochromatic color scheme. There are three groupings of colors which are primary, secondary, and tertiary colors and all the colors are perceived to be created by the mixing of certain basic colors.

Learning Objective #3: Explain the use of SPACE in visual arts
Space is the distance or area around, between, or within components of a piece and can either be positive or negative, open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-dimensional. The sense of space in an artwork is usually an impression and artists meticulously syndicate the use of light and dark value with other techniques to create it. An artist may use an overlapping expression where one partially hides an object that’s theoretical to be behind it thus making one freely agree that one is closer and the other is further away. Linear perspective is a geometrical method where disappearing lines move towards a vanishing point and the size of objects is determined by their location along the vanishing line.

Additionally, objects faraway may be portrayed by using atmospheric perspective where figures that are far away are shown in dimmer and blurred colors. In 3-dimensional work such as the sculpture, objects may emerge from the backing surface at a certain distance that justifies the space or by just walking away or towards a free sculpture. Some artists may play with the reverse of positive and negative space to create compound illusions and others may use these illusions of positive and negative images to even greater lengths, hiding images within images.
Learning Objective #4: Explain the use of TEXTURE in visual arts
The texture is the tactile quality of the object’s surface and is a very important element of visual art since it can either inspire or provoke viewers thus giving pleasure. Texture can be successfully used by the artist to support the concepts behind their work thus acting as a major influence on viewers’ response to the work. The texture is a very fundamental element of art that is very important in sculptures especially considering the final surface treatment of an object.

Artworks are intended to be touched and therefore some artists make their art touchable for the viewers to experience it since if the artists allow their work to be touched especially by visually impaired people, they can have the full experience. Tactile qualities are very vital and artists creating functional art really consider materials they use by understanding the materials they work with closely and instinctively because the best aesthetical art is really pleasing. Implied texture in an artwork contains the illusion of actual textures and is used to allow the viewer to enter into the scenario that the artist has created.

PERSONAL RESPONSES TO ONE ARTIST” S WORK:
Christina's World is a realist tempera portrait by iconic American artist Andrew Wyeth in 1948. In this picture, we can see great styles of art employed by the artist that helps us distinguish the foreground, middle ground, and background. In his artist painting in the foreground, we can see Christina lying on the ground and it suggests that she is trying to make some movement to reach the houses in the far background. The grass in the foreground also suggests that the picture was drawn regarding the dry spell or the harvest season in Chads (Hoptman & Wyeth 2-3). Christina appears mesmerized by her rural setting, a hint of the breeze caressing her loose strands of hair as she gazes towards her home, completely captivated. Besides, we can note the distinguished passive color palette in the foreground that helps us to differentiate the harvested grass and that which is yet to be harvested. Moreover, the different color used helps distinguish the clothes that Christina is wearing from where she is crawling. The light between the house and the barn is the brightest point of the painting and Christina is directing her head upwards towards it. Read More
