As a result of the suburban sprawl of Provo, many people have to travel to the city for purposes such as work obligations. The government has had to address the transport inefficiency in the area the high percentage of growth of the population by around 26% in a period of six years has not helped in minimizing the burden on both the environment and the government. The situation in Provo has led to the abandonment of the urban and rural areas, through the increase of housing facilities and buildings in the developing spirit of suburban areas. Sprawl in Atlanta Living in Atlanta, Georgia has enabled me to experience the effects of the increasing suburban sprawl in the area. There is a rapid and unplanned growth in the area, with new housings coming up often. At the beginning of the suburban sprawl in Atlanta, many families and individuals had the plan of escaping the congestion in the urban area. However, due to the constant buildings that come up in order to house the ever increasing population in the place, Atlanta has emerged to become one of enormous suburban sprawls in America. The region experiences a low-density suburban sprawl characterized by an outward spreading of the suburban region in the country (Goetz, 2013). There exists a low-density land use due to the increasing population of the place. The increasing sprawl of the suburban area in Atlanta obtains its support from the extension of social amenities into the region. These amenities that are a basic infrastructure for the urban areas include sewerage systems, power, water systems and roads. There were worries that the suburban sprawl of Atlanta would lead to the connection of the area with Alabama. The situation in Atlanta, in concern to the worrying levels of suburban growth, would have been a better case if it would have been a leap frog development type of suburban growth (Williamson, 2013). The leapfrog development type of suburban growth does not allow for the congestion of people and housing facilities in the area. It leaves patches of green areas that arise due to different development policies arising due to political jurisdictions and natural prohibitive topographies. Among the major reasons for this fact is that they aim at reducing the congestion in the urban places. The population have deserted the rural areas because they want a fairly comfortable lives afforded in the suburbs. The sprawls in the suburban areas have led to the congestion of housing developments and there exist shortages in housing facilities. Further, the transport system has also faced the negative effect of the sprawls (Williamson, 2013). The government can enhance the follow-up of the zoning codes of the suburban areas that emphasize on land usage. The zoning codes cap the restrictions on density, segregate the usage of land and impose minimum requirements for parking for the property owners (Lewyn, 2013). Dedication of the Americans in undoing the government intrusion in the matters concerning land use would reverse the unfortunate situation of suburban sprawls. There is the abandonment of the urban and rural areas as people choose to live in the developing suburban areas. The main reason that people prefer to live in the suburbs is that they do not want to congest the urban areas. Living in the rural area, on the other hand, has its disadvantages because one does not have the access to basic urban infrastructure such as power, water, and sewerage system. There is, however, a constantly increasing population in the suburban sprawls. For example, Atlanta has experienced a lot of growth of its suburban area to an extent that there exist housing problems in the area. Atlanta suburban area experiences the low-density type of suburban sprawl, where there exists increased development of houses. The situation has steered congestion in the area. America can address the situation of the commuter problem in the sprawls of the suburban areas through the provision of more means of public transport. Public transport will facilitate reduction of congestion and pollution in suburban areas. On the other hand, in order to address the problem of the increasing suburban sprawl in America, there should be the enforcement of land use zoning regulations.
